Anton's Tafel — Restaurant in Vienna

Beware! I do not recommend ordering ice cream cakes from this business. Unfortunately, I had a very bad experience with their customer service. The communication with the owner is appalling. I inquired about an ice cream cake for my son's birthday and received no response. The day of his party I received an email that the cake was ready for pick up. Having not confirmed the order on my side, I was quiet surprised they would make the cake and of course felt very bad about. Despite having already an alternative cake, I agreed to pick up the cake I no longer needed. My husband picked up the cake and the lady that helped him seemed very confused, inexperienced and didn't know what she was doing. That evening, I received a very rude email saying we got the cake and left without paying. The cashier never gave us a receipt and never asked us to pay for it. Of course we transferred the money to them immediately, for the cake we never agreed to purchase! The owner then had the nerve to write me another long email attacking us for the situation, after we paid for the cake! Maybe she should have instead a) never made the cake since it was never confirmed and b) fired the confused employee that forgot to charge us. If they understand anything about running a business, they should know the customer is always right.

The whole situation made us feel very uncomfortable and was very unprofessional. This is no way to run a business and I really don't think they will be in business for long, if this is how they treat their customers! Their ice cream is wonderful and we have gone to their little shop in Hietzing many times throughout the summer. I even recommended it numerous times to family and friends. But after this experience, I can say I will never give them my business ever again. I will also tell my friends and family in the area about this...

I was tremendously disappointed of this highly ranked restaurant. Not only the ice cream tasted bad (I am intented to say awful), it was also served with a too high temperature. Ich fahre im Sommer mehrmals vom 21. Bezirk bis zu Anton‘s Tafel nur um das beste und hochwertigste Eis, das ich jemals gegessen habe, zu genießen! Die Besitzer, die an der Eisuniversität in Bologna gelernt haben Gelati zu machen, verarbeiten nur frische, auserwählte Früchte. Die meisten Eissorten kommen auch ohne Milchprodukte aus der hauseigenen Produktion und können daher unbedenklich von Veganern und Laktoseintoleranten genossen werden. Nun durfte ich auch die Kochkünste des Chefs kennenlernen. Eine Freundin hat zu einer Feierlichkeit zum 4-Gänge-Menü geladen. Es war ein Traum, ein wahrer Genuss!
