I loved it!! So many times I passed it on my walks and runs and always told myself I should stop by. Yesterday was the perfect opportunity, the weather was nice and warm (quite too warm for this time of year, but guess we need to get used to that) and my girlfriend was up for a casual stroll along Alte Donau. We were lucky to score the perfect seats on the water terrace, with our backs to the wall, comfy on blankets and the warm sun in our faces. 🙌 Wanting to sample the menu a bit, we went for a classic Viennese coffee paired with Gugelhupf, a hot chocolate and homemade lemonade. Oh what a delight!! My girlfriend is still in awe about the perfect taste of the coffee and will not shut up about the Gugelhupf. The hot chocolate was savory as well, but I was quite thirsty and the lemonade was just heavensent. All hand-made and fresh as can be.
We were soaking up the sun, enjoying ourselves, our treats and the atmosphere. Other people around us were basking in the sun as well, pleasant conversations all around and our personal highlights were the two very well behaved dogs two tables over.
A very big part of the experience is the attentive staff. Big props to their motivation, friendliness and eye for detail. Service was quick and to the point.
We can not wait to return and spend even more time down...

I was looking forward to having breakfast there for a long time, because I always thought the location great. In the end, that remains to be the only thing I liked about the place. The staff was inattentive, and basically couldn't care less about providing good service or not. The food was very mediocre and pretty pricey for that, although I understand that sometimes you pay for location as well.
I ordered a cappuccino and when I asked if I could have a glass of water with it - which, imho, should just come with a coffee beverage -, I was told that they charge for water, which they call "Wiener Wasser" (... are you kidding me?)
When we eventually got our food (after servers had come up to us twice with food that had been ordered by different tables), it looked kind of carelessly thrown on the plate. It tasted alright, but like I said before, was mediocre at best.
So, I do not think I will ever go there for breakfast again. Maybe a sun-downer ...
In any case, I think it is a shame that a place with so much potential does not offer better quality...
Read moreIt was supposed to be a lovely dinner by the water… I had been to this restaurant a couple of times in the past and found it decent, but unfortunately, this latest visit was a big disappointment — enough to make me reconsider coming again.
We ordered a mix of their classic and signature dishes, including fried whitebait fish (which was a starter and, to be fair, arrived fairly quickly), fish & chips, and beef tartare. But the rest of the food took more than 1.5 hours to arrive, despite us reminding the waiter several times. We were dining with our baby, which made the long wait even more stressful and complicated.
What was especially frustrating was that several tables who arrived after us were served their meals long before we got ours. The service felt disorganized and unprofessional — even if I understand it’s a busy place. In the end, we received an apology, but it didn’t really help, as we had to eat in a rush and leave quickly.
All in all, not the kind of experience you expect when dining out, especially with a child. Sadly, this visit left us with little...
