Desi Dhaba Restaurant — Restaurant in Vienna

First ordered from them today, for home delivery. We got the Monday menu, with butter chicken and tikka massala chicken. Regrettably ordered through a big platform - would have been 4€ cheaper on the restaurant's website directly, so go with that if you order from them.

The salad was super basic. Chopped lettuce with a few pieces of chopped cucumber and tomato. No seasoning whatsoever.

Positive about the two curries was that they were not too oily (as these restaurants often make them). The taste was okay but not special, chicken a bit dry and no added vegetables. Curry consistency was quite creamy, tasted like they might have gotten it that way by blending it with some vegetables (not sure though). The chicken pieces were of my preferred size (rather small), but the quantity was a bit lacking and being rather dry didn't help. I thought the tikka massala was the better dish of the two, with more flavor. Both were not spicy.

The rice was okay, typical dry basmati rice. The naan bread was just a thin durum slice, quite soft and easy to chew - not bad (some make them really rubber-like which these fortunately are not). Not nearly as great as we've had in other countries, though.

For the quality of the food, I felt the price was too high. It did satisfy the cravings for Indian food we had had, and it didn't taste stale or old. The microwave-ready sealed packaging made other reviewers assume that it's pre-made and the restaurant just resells it, but my impression is that they simply have a sealing machine in the restaurant. I thought it was great to have it arrive without any spillage for sure, which has happened with other restaurants and is especially annoying with curry...

Food was absolutely terrible, we received our food it was all pre cooked and in microwave package. Me and my friends put too €51.00 expecting a proper authentic Indian this was appalling. What a waste of money, how does this establishment have a 4.5 star rating it’s an absolute disgrace. Please do not order from this place you will thank me, I don’t like to tarnish an establishment it’s someone’s livelihood but I don’t want someone to make the same mistake as me...

I've ordered a couple times from here and planned since months that this will be the first restaurant to visit after lockdown. Today was that day 🥳 The food is amazing, the place neat and the staff humble and friendly. Will definitely come here again and also use the delivery service 👍
