Do not go. There are so many better places with great hospitality. This restaurant is run by scammers. They will charge you a lot for random items, like the few pieces of bread they lay out as a starter, which everywhere else in the world and Vienna does freely. Of course, these items are nowhere in the menu and are just given to you without your asking. The owner/main server is incredibly rude. After the meal, he told us we cannot pay by card, to which I’ve learned is a blatant lie. He then wrote us an overpriced number with horrible handwriting, intentionally of course, and demanded we pay him 100 euros for 2 schnitzels, 2 waters, 2 soups and a beer. I’ve had the very same meal, much better quality too, for about half of his randomly generated price here in Vienna. After doing a calculation of their limited menu, I concluded he had overcharged us and he said the reason is for the few lousy small pieces of bread. I would recommend everyone, tourist and local, to never go to this business. If you’re a local, stop supporting them. Rude scammers do not deserve to be in business. I’m shocked it has above a 4 star rating but it appears all of the good reviews they’ve received are from years ago, as the last few years of reviews on TripAdvisor are filled with similar...
Read moreOn the positive side, the roast beef with onion is ABSOLUTELY HEAVENLY - a must try if you go! The wiener schnitzel dish comes in 2 for 10 euros with a side of potato salad - they are delicious and big in portion so enough for 2 to share.
On the negative side, service is very, very poor. We had to wait a long time before any waiter even approached us; locals who came in later than us were allowed to cut the queue and be seated almost instantly. Though we understand that the waiters were busy, they came off as rather unfriendly, rude and inattentive. There was at least a half an hour gap between the serving of the first and second dishes even though they were ordered at the same time. Our attempts to ask the waiter about the late dish were mostly ignored. Calling to make a reservation seems impossible - waiters who picked up were unhelpful and hung up abruptly. Also, they will charge you for tap water.
On the whole, the restaurant is worth a trip to the far side of Vienna because the food is indeed AMAZING. That is if you are willing to overlook the poor hospitality. You will also get to experience authentic food with many locals. Remember to bring cash - cards...
