Now who would have thought that a small eatery in a subway station in Vienna would be actually worth writing about? Certainly not me, but here we are - not only is the food amazing for a quick bite in between, but what really elevates the experience was the service - the feller behind the counter is golden, really attentive, friendly and knows his stuff.

It just goes to show that sometimes, all you really need is a good couple of sausages or some meatloaf in a kaiser bread with a beer, and off you go. Very well deserved five stars, bit of a hidden gem in my opinion.

Now obviously, do not expect anything glamorous, we are talking about a quick eatery in a subway station, meals are meat focused, so not really a place if you look for something healthy and vegetarian, and beyond that, seating is very limited - but don't even think of going anywhere else when you are around and you could use a little meaty snack that doesn't break the bank. Das Backhendl dort ist das Beste das wir kennen: knusprig, saftig und durch. Man sich alles einzeln bestellen, ohne Menü. Du bekommt Restaurant-Qualität zum Standl-Preis (z.B. 1 Backhendl um € 2,70).

Die Verkäuferin/Köchin ist sehr offen und sympatisch. Verpackungsfrei Einkaufen ist hier möglich (mit eigenen Boxen). Eine Klimaanlage ist vorhanden. Sitzplätze für etwa 6-8 Personen sind im Imbiss.

Das Backhendl bestellen wir am Telefon vor: So kann sie nach Bedarf kochen und kann Lebensmittelverschwendung entgegenwirken.

Für Vegetarier sehr Sperrlich und eher nicht so geeignet da auch Pommes im selben Öl schwimmen wie das Schweineschnitzerl. Auch der gebackene Käse und das geb. Gemüse. Salate aber sind sehr gut auch das Gebackene schmeckt gut nur wer Vegetarier ist ... na dann hats eben nen unmenschlichen Beigeschmack wenn man bedenkt wie die Tiere leiden und dann deren sterbliche Überreste mit den Pommes im selben Öl landen ... ist für Veggies/Veganer dann eher Pervers und Verabscheuungswürdig als...
