Restaurant Thessaloniki — Restaurant in Vienna

A very unassuming and tucked away Greek restaurant in Vienna that delivered a 10/10 experience.

My family and I were looking for a dinner spot near our residence and chanced upon this place whilst looking on Google Maps.

From the moment we stepped in, we felt like were invited to be a part of a family. Though we could not speak a word of German, the host, a lovely Greek lady, offered to help us with the translation. The other diners were also friendly and smiled at us. I’ve never felt so welcomed in Europe before.

The food was delicious and just simply spot on. The gyros are an absolute must try!! I’ll definitely be coming back again for round 2! The other meats including the lamb, pork and calamari were super tender and mouth-watering! The tomato rice reminded me of risotto and that too was delicious!

It was our last day in Vienna, we tried many Austrian food already so we wanted to try something else.

The location : not exactly in the city center, but was easy to reach.

When we arrived, we were greeted by the lady who was so kind and sweet.

The interior of the restaurant was amazing but we chose to sit outside because my husband had vape.

So many options of the food. I chose Gyros with Metaxasauce meanwhile my husband chose Scampi Vom Grill (prawn). While waiting for the food we got basket of bread.

The portion of the food were big. I couldnt finish , she offered me to bring it home and she gave extra bread.

Really surprised regarding the high rating on google. Thought the food was average at best. No English menu available which was awkward. I ordered the chicken skewers …which came with dip and chips….very plain. Chicken hadn’t been marinated and tasted more like reformed chicken, rather than fillet advertised. If you are used to Greek style kebabs in Greece or UK…. these were really poor by comparison. Very bland and didn’t have any barbecue...
