We went today to the first time to try Vegansl, we paid 183 EUR for 4 people having 4x the Vegansl 4x desserts and 5x drinks. Let me give you a quick rundown. There was a starter missing that we ended up paying for and when asked to get it refunded they told us that next time when we make a reservation we can get it for free (we all wonder how this will be actually validated)
This was an experience that was pretty bad all around and I wouldn't recommend, for the same amount of money we could have gone to any similar quality vegan restaurant in Vienna and have a better deal. We won't be visiting again even though we moved next door.
The staff felt rather confused all time around, things were rushed & there was a lack of care and finally i don't believe we have ever had a dessert that was essentially two spoonfulls at 8.90
We had a reservation at 19:00, it took about 10 minutes for the staff to decide where our reserved table was as they lost the lane and ended up having other people in that came after us
We ordered our drinks and a starter, that starter never arrived but it was obviously in the bill at the end.
The Vegansl was too pricy for its quality and overall care. The cabbage was great as well as the grave but the knödel were stiff and dry, the Mushroom wrapped in rice paper turned soggy and sad rather quickly
The dessert are ridiculous...
Read moreThe restaurant is completely overhyped and overpriced. The Halloween special was really good, but truthfully paying 19,9€ for a beyond burger meat (price per piece in Billa 2,5€ - and you can get it often -20%!) and smiley fries (again Billa 3€ for 700g package) is way too much. I also find it absolutely insane that you can’t order a menu with a drink and get something nonalcoholic. I get being a “punk” restaurant (to be honest it also really doesn’t have anything in common with punk), but do we have to promote alcoholism? Paying 2€ for tap water is just an insanity. I’ve read comments from the restaurant owners and they make it seem like the waiter had to at least climb the highest peak in Alps to bring me that glass of tap water. Coming from service industry there is absolutely no justification for this price. Perhaps I misunderstood and was supposed to take the glass home as it’s the same price I would pay to get the same glass in ikea. The interior wasn’t my cup of tea but that’s a...
Read moreMy girlfriend and I went on a Saturday evening and had a wonderful time. I had a double smash burger, which was a delicious mess in the best way possible. The blue cheddar sauce was a great dip for the fries and also for the Noschnitzel my girlfriend ordered! While she's 100% vegan, I'm still a part-time bloodmouth, so I can also say that the meat substitutes in both dishes were very convincing and satisfying.
All three of the young ladies who were working during our visit served us at least once and all three were lovely and helpful. I'd like to especially mention the one who took our orders, even though she said she'd only been working there for a short time so far, her recommendations from the menu were perfect and exactly what we wanted.
We will definitely come back the next time...
