Hauptbücherei am Gürtel — Attraction in Vienna

This is a great place for any book lover. You can find a huge collection of books on almost any topic. Not only books but a great collection of movies of and music is also there to quench the thirst of art lovers. The only thing thing that bothers me is that it closes very early(7:00 PM). That is not a closing time one would expect for a library in a city like Vienna. The other thing that bothers is that many people come here just for gossips. They don't even to bother to care for the other people who are there to study or read. They act like they are in a coffee shop or a restaurant. Well this issue doesn't directly concern the library staff but they still have responsibility to ensure a comfortable environment for the people who are there for what a library is supposed to be. They need to be a bit stricter on the people who disturb others. After all it's a library. But other than that it's a great place to read and discover books. I greatly recommend...

Even though there are bigger libraries out there in the world, all of the Viennese public libraries are fantastic, especially for children with all those books, magazines, movies and music. But the main public library here, is a child's dream come true. So many books, even for the very small, to browse through. All that in a very pleasant atmosphere with very helpful service. Very big and easy to access, and clean. But for someone who really want a quiet place to study a ..BIG NO. Not enough chairs to sit, you find Kids are loud, crying & running around, people talk to each other so loud as if its a coffee shop or chatting box, others wont even mind having lunch right there, mobile(s) phones ringing constantly so loud, homeless people chilling around,absolute horror. Very good for other stuff but not for a quiet...
