Mediocre service and way overpriced mediocre food. Blah vegan options. Was so excited to try this place as I heard it had good vegan options. I walked a half hour from the airport to get there since I had a long layover and the first clerk told me that I could get the vegan salad or wrap (both had same ingredients but one was just in a wrap. There was also a vegan carrot cake I could try.) He said it had sweet potatoes, grilled veggies, plus all the typical side salad ingredients ( tomato, cucumber, carrots, greens, onions, peppers). It sounded nice and filling so I got excited and ordered it but then the manager said that the vegan salad did not have those ingredients. He told me the salad for vegans was greens, tomato, carrots, peppers, onions, walnuts and broccoli. It sounded a bit boring so I had to think about it. The manager was impatient and rude even though it was his clerk that told me the wrong ingredients. I asked if I could pay to add sweet potatoes and extra veggies and he said no, even though there were other menu items with sweet potato. I ultimately decided to go for it since I trusted the review that said it had good vegan options. For twenty dollars I got a side salad essentially (see picture below). No broccoli, like maybe 2-3 thin slivers of a tomato, barely a few pieces of cucumber, maybe about 6 walnuts, and old smelling greens ( you know that smell when it's about to rot?). Just look at the picture below and you will see that it has barely anything in it. I decided to keep it because I didn't know if I would eat again for the remaining flights I had to go. The salad dressing was very cheap tasting. I would not recommend this place to vegans. It takes very little imagination to make a substantial salad. All they have to do is throw more veggies, maybe some garbanzos and of course that elusive sweet potato and don't be so cheap with the ingredients! It's not like they don't have the ingredients. They have mushrooms in their chicken salad, raisins in their salmon salad, red cabbage in their poboy salad, they even throw in sweet potato fries in their shrimp salad! They couldn't throw that in their vegan salad? I offered to pay for extra veggies. And don't get the wrap because they said it's essentially a SMALLER portion of the salad below in a wrap. Who wants that? When I got to the airport I saw a $15 vegan salad at Rhythm cafe ( the Rhythm signature salad) that was a bigger portion with mixed greens, garbanzos, and quinoa! Usually the airport salads are more expensive and not worth it. I should have just waited. Also I should mention that after this cafe I walked five minutes west on the same road to Dino's Conch Salad stand and got a Tropical conch salad without the conch for $10 before I head back to the airport and that was soooo delicious and much more filling than Louis & Steen's. I didn't have time after that to return the Louis n Steen's salad because I had to go to the airport otherwise I would have. I got the impression from talking with them them that they begrudgingly offer vegan options because they have to not because they really want to or care to. The manager/owner was super impatient with me until I finally called him out in a funny way about the situation and then he lightened up. But I don't like to feel like I have to work to make service employees be nice to me, especially if I am already nice as a customer to them. If they really care about their vegan options they would put as much love & enthusiasm into those options as they do their other ones. It doesn't really take much. It was really the worst salad I have ever had outside of a fast food place. I gave the place a couple of stars because it's really a beautiful space with both indoor & outdoor seating & with nice views of the sea (albeit from across the road). If vegans go there I would not recommend their dishes, go for some tea perhaps & their baked vegan good although from this experience I would definitely ask what the ingredients are. They also have an acai bowl. But for a salad just walk down the...
Read moreThere are three restaurants in New Providence that can boast of the title of "A Definite Fav" for me. Louis & Steen's now joins that grouping. WHAT A PLACE! A friend and I decided to check it out for breakfast, and I could not have been more thankful we chose them. The spacious parking already was a blessing, but the outer appearance really drew me in - fit with their own covered outdoor patio for seating & tasty purple signage, I couldn't help but walk inside. Their hand sanitizer station and temperature checker was in place, and the colorful jam, sauce, and candle displays immediately bathed me in positive vibes. Following their trail, I promenaded to the front counter, perused the menu, was greeted with hi's from an employee, and blessed when I inhaled the aroma of brewed coffee. Not only was inside beautiful to behold, but very attractive and picturesque. Nonetheless, for COVID-19 purposes, my friend and I decided to eat outside in the patio. There, a laminated QR Scan Code Card with instructions were present. We read and followed them: we took a picture of the code, was guided to the easy-to-understand and attractive website, ordered our food, paid online, and waited fifteen minutes before going inside to collect it. The menu truly tickled my fancy - the assortment of lattes, morning and lunch dishes, sides, bowls, and the like blew my mind! The prices were a tad steep, but the variety seemed worth it! I ordered am omelette with lobster, mushrooms, spinach and tomatoes, which came with seasoned potato wedges and a side of guacamole plus an Aussie and turmeric brew, and my friend ordered a breakfast box with crepes topped with sweetened cream cheese, bacon, and scrambled eggs plus a mint chocolate iced latte. The food did not disappoint! SCRUMPTIOUS! MORE THAN ENOUGH! FINGER-LICKING! WORTH EVERY PENNY! Lord have mercy I had to take my time and eat because I didn't want the food to vanish. Shoots - our meals were even packaged in the widest and cutest rectangular carded boxes and bagged in brown paper bags in the neatest way! At one point, an employee even came out to ensure we knew how to order ad Ms answer any questions. Listen - if you're reading this, YOU WOULD WANT to give Louis & Steen's a try. It's really giving what it is supposed to give! Food quality and quantity, ambiance, presentation, kindness, space, creativity, and bang for your buck! I refuse to let a month go by...
Read moreZero customer service, rude staff, slow service. Avoid if your looking for a good experience. I would give a zero if available. I came today to pick up an order and was greeted by a very rude worker. I mentioned that I would like to add a coffee to my order and she rudely replied( because it’s a brew I will do it for you but you usually have to walk in to the shop). Well if you were going to do it why even mention anything. Second I placed an order online for window pick up and had an order number then she tells me that I dont have an order and my order is not there. Then when I tried to tell here my order number she start rudely telling me to stop yelling at her. And she then grabs the laptop and try’s to show me that my order doesn’t exist and I was trying to mention that she’s not using the code I’m providing and she kept yelling that I am yelling at her when I was clearly sitting in my car calmly trying to get my order and head to my work. She then proceeded to tell me to go yell at my “boss”. Then another worker came to the window furious and started to tell me your a visitor in the Bahamas and I have to be nice to people. Well guess what I am a visitor at your establishment and you treated me very rudely and then he proceeded to ball his fist like he wanted to fight and kept yelling at me and lecturing me about talking to people after the fact that they realized that my order was clearly there and they were clearly wrong and fully neglected to use there eyes to see the order. Customer service is very important and I live in the Bahamas and even if I was a visitor that is no way to treat your visitors or people visiting your country. This was very frustrating and sad and upsetting. I am not sure why they were being very rude but to any future visitors be warned. The place might look “zen” but everything about it is fake and tacky. I am still very shocked that I even had to deal with this. I can’t believe that the worker actually tried to fight...
