We recently visited The Urban Plate, a newly opened restaurant in Mohammadpur. The place is beautifully decorated, with cozy sofas and comfortable seating arrangements. Their menu is quite extensive, offering a variety of rice dishes, noodles, and appetizers. We ordered fried rice (portion for two) and noodle soup (also for two). The fried rice was delicious, though the portion felt a bit small. In contrast, the noodle soup portion was very generous, but it was extremely oily and overly spicy. It had chicken, black fungus mushrooms, and a whole egg, and although it looked quite appetizing, the heavy use of chili oil made it difficult to enjoy. I personally feel the chili oil should have been served separately so customers can adjust according to their preference. We shared our feedback with the waiter and decided to take it away instead of finishing it there. Since we wanted something sweet to balance things out, we tried ordering waffles, but unfortunately, they weren’t available. At that point, the waiter informed us that they would like to serve us something complimentary as an apology for the noodle soup issue. The manager also came over personally to apologize, which was a very nice and professional gesture. They offered us complimentary ice cream, which we really appreciated. On top of that, they had already welcomed us with complimentary popcorn upon arrival. Overall, while the food had both hits and misses, the customer service truly stood out. The way they acknowledged the mistake and handled it with such hospitality is rare to find in Dhaka’s restaurants these days. For that reason alone, I’m giving them a...
Read moreUpdate: This was my second visit, with the hope that, all of the menu items would be available. But unfortunately, when we picked 2 kabab items (Chicken Adana Kabab, and Tangri Kabab) from the kabab menu, they mentioned none of these items are available. We attempted 3rd item, they said this will take time to prepare. Rather they enforced us to pick gravy items, butter chicken and chicken Tikka, and Chicken Keema Anda. This is not the way you should enforce items. And food taste was poor these time. Both of the gravy items had the exact same taste with too much sweet flavour that we could not finish.
Staffs are kind of like ignorant and lacks professionalism to deal with customers.
This was our 2nd and for sure the last visit here.
Previous Review: Nice place with great menu! Food quality was great. We ordered baked pasta that they could not serve as we arrived during the opening hour. We decided to switch to cheff special chowmin. The presentation of the food along with taste was great.
One more thumbs up for the comfortable sitting. Will come...
