The place itself is nice with low lighting, both inside and out, umbrella-shaded benches as you enter away from the source of the music where you can have a conversation and a spacious courtyard inside, past the bar. The music was a mix of Caribbean rhythms (the type changes depending upon the DJ and night) and I had a great vantage point from a pub table to people watch as guests arrived. It's close to St. Lawrence Gap where I'd parked and gone looking for vegan food. They've got a delicious Beyond Meat burger.
I didn't score them higher because it felt as though the service wasn't consistent. While the couple on one side and the man on the other had a specific someone who was attentive, I found myself trying to get the attention of different servers, of which there seemed to be an unnecessarily large amount of young women, modeling about, looking at and fixing their tight black dresses and chatting with each other. I even saw one trying two customers' drinks (they were obviously all friends), a hostess had in her earbuds and was clearly on a personal call and the guard had to put down her phone to acknowledge me for a similar reason. There were also maybe six (I think more) guys behind the bar all clamoring to take my drinks order or the opposite (not realising I was there). There was one barman who would ask if I was ok in passing and he stood out as someone generally paying attention to the customer's needs.
One of the servers at the start was also able to answer the questions I had about my meal (once it's the vegan burger it automatically won't come with cheese or mayonnaise, you'd have to ask for it - HALLELUJAH!!). My meal had arrived in a carry away container, in a plastic bag, although I'd ordered it at the entrance after asking about vegan options, then asked where I could sit and was taken to my seat inside.
After pointing out that it hadn't been my intention to take it away, I was still left to eat out of the container like I was in Baxter's road outside of Pink Star having a liver cutter, and not on the South Coast eating a Beyond Burger for $42 Barbados dollars.
The lady whose attention I finally got so I could pay my bill was genuinely friendly (you can tell - good job HR) and she even told me what was on my bill because I'd...
Read moreI used to come here a lot and always enjoyed the food and never had issues with the service. However, recently that has changed drastically.
First of all being seated inside is really only for people who want to scream at whoever theyre with because you cannot hear anything over the music. Outside seating is a little better but still super loud. Don't recommend if you actually want to talk to your dinner table guests.
Because of this we started ordering takeaway instead. That way we still enjoy the food but we can also enjoy the company. Suddenly you cannot order takeaway after 6pm. Even if you're at the restaurant, ask for a table, they have none - you still CANNOT order takeaway. You either have to wait 2-3 hours for a table or just leave. You cannot order food at the bar or in the back area either so unless seated at a table there's no options for food.
Now suddenly you cannot order takeaway regardless of the time?! No takeaway at all?! This is absolutely ridiculous especially for a restaurant that is right across from the beach, in the most tourist populated area, and just generally for a restaurant?!
Honestly I wouldnt waste my money here anymore and I wouldnt recommend them to anyone either. Customer service has gone downhill, your dining is more a night club vibe, and your no takeaway rule is...
Read moreDuring our visit to Barbados we drove by 6Mix Bar almost daily and the atmosphere always looked inviting. So we decided to give them a try for dinner on one of our last nights on the island. We were greeted by friendly hostesses and opted to sit outside. The atmosphere was great. If you like to "people watch" or soak in the views of night traffic, then sitting outside is a must. The well manicured hedges and trees also adds an extra plus to the experience. We decided to try the chicken nachos to see how it compares to nachos back in America. Sincerely the best nachos we have ever had!..hands down! Especially impressive since chicken nachos are harder to perfect. One interesting item that I definitely have to share was the choice of music on the night that we sat outside. Definitely not music for kids or an older crowd. But this might have been just specific to that night. Lastly, major props to whoever designed the 6Mix logo.
PROS Great atmosphere Great food and fast service Ample parking across the street Walk-ins allowed Good sized menu options
CONS One small con - music selection was questionable on the night that we visited. Not sure what...
