Amazing traditional Japanese sushi. Having been to Japan, this is the closest thing we have tasted to real Japanese food elsewhere. It's the real deal!
The place appears to be run by a very attentive Japanese man who will make your order on command with the freshest ingredients available. We asked for sushi moriawase and a handpicked selection of other sushi pieces, and it was so good that we ordered some extra pieces of our favorites in the end. It's no frills sushi where the flavor of the ingredients used really shines. For the quality and taste of what we got, we actually consider this to be very well priced, in a similar range of what you could pay at places that offer much less quality.
The place itself is rather unpretencious, it has a hand painted sign on the window and it has some traditional decorations hung along the walls. It is a simple place, with just some tables, chairs, and the sushi bar, which in my opinion it just adds to the perception that you are there simply to enjoy the delicious food, and not distracted (and paying for) "atmosphere".
This will probably become our go to sushi place in Antwerp. Loved...

Antwerps best kept Japanese secret
At the mere age of 12 Sushi-chef Desmond Teoh started helping out (after school) in the restaurant of his father until the end of secondary school. The family restaurant Rojak Kerang is famous in Gurun, Malaysia for its signature dish with Calamares. Desmond wasn’t only thrown in the life of gastronomy, but he fell in love with it.
Arrived in Belgium, Desmond was eager to learn more about different types of kitchens. Eventually after 10 years experience in the Chinese kitchen and 9 years experience in the Japanese Kitchen and creating his own signature dishes, he opened his own restaurant.
Few people actually know that the idea of Sushi originates from China. So the combination of his experience in the Chinese and the Japanese kitchen is a good match.
Fuji-San stands out for its fresh products and its big variety in fish. Everything is made at the moment of delivery, to guarantee the freshness.

He prepares everything at his pace and carefully. We started with Shrimp Dim Sum together with the tea. Some may know but for who doesn’t; Dim Sum means “Heart’s Delight” and these dumplings are reaching out to your heart.
Later, we took a complete journey in Fuji-San with Sushi and Sashimi Menus. Each menu includes wakame su (seaweed and cucumber salad with vinegar), misoshiru (miso soup), macha ice cream with fresh fruits, tea and of course selection of sushi’s and sashimi’s. I really recommend you to order a set menu to enjoy waiting time and build up your appetite for the main course. Everything was super fresh and a heaven in the mouth.
The interior decoration is authentic, plain and simple; paintings, plants, sculptures and little details are in absolute harmony. Do yourself a favour and go to Fuji-San as soon...
