Yes, the place has the aesthetic charm of a parish hall, but who cares when your plate is filled with rich, spiced curries, fresh crunchy salad, and enough injera to wallpaper your house (please don’t, just eat it). Meat lovers and vegetarians alike will find something to scoop up with their bare hands—because cutlery is for the weak.

Wash it down with an Asmara beer or some dangerously drinkable Gojo tej (Eritrean honey wine that may or may not convince you you’re royalty). And if you have time, stick around for the coffee ceremony, which is part ritual, part caffeine jolt, and all-around awesome.

We’ve eaten a LOT of Ethiopian and Eritrean food, both in Ethiopia and elsewhere around the world, and love it. The food here was mediocre by comparison with what we’ve had elsewhere, and the ambiance is lacking, with dim lighting and more of a bar atmosphere than a dining atmosphere. We were disappoint, also, by the small quantity and selection of vegetarian dishes in their vegetarian combo. Missing were most of our favorite and more savory items while the lack thereof seemed made up for by far more injera than necessary filling up space on the platter that in other places would have been occupied by more veggies. I will say that it’s hard to get good injera in most Ethiopian restaurants, containing a high percentage of teff. Het eten was echt heerlijk! We hadden de vleesschotel voor 2 personen voor 59.50 en het was echt verrukkelijk daarnaast hadden we allebei een theetje voor 2.50pp. Er is heel veel diversiteit in het eten en zelfs voor twee grote eters kregen we het eten niet op. De service was erg vriendelijk en het eten stond ook binnen 30min op tafel! Om de sfeer nog beter te verbeteren zouden we misschien aanraden om de muziek iets zachter te zetten zodat het meer aanvoelt als...
