Chocolate Nation: A Sweet Journey Through chocolate

Located conveniently near Antwerp Station, Chocolate Nation is a must-visit for chocolate enthusiasts. We added it to our itinerary to complement our trip to the city and the nearby Diva Museum.

This interactive experience offers a fascinating look into the world of chocolate. From the cocoa journey to the chocolate-making process, there's something for everyone. Highlights include a tasting session featuring 10 different flavors (milk, gold, ruby, dark, bo milk choco, and more), a visit to the chocolate castle, and a glimpse into the cocoa removal process in Ghana.

Tasting Session: Indulge your taste buds with a variety of chocolate flavors, from classic milk and dark to the more exotic gold and ruby. Chocolate Castle: Explore a whimsical castle made entirely of chocolate, showcasing the artistry and creativity behind chocolate production. Cocoa Removal Process: Witness the fascinating process of cocoa removal in Ghana, from harvesting the cocoa beans to preparing them for transportation.

Learn about the history of chocolate, from its first packaging and fillings to the creation of the iconic Magnum ice cream. Discover the first filled chocolate created by Jacques, the first ruby chocolate, and the first Magnum ice cream that combined the perfect balance of ice cream and chocolate.

The Chocolate Nation shop is a delightful place to browse for unique souvenirs, with adorable items like macron earrings. Just a small but , found the staff on the counter a little rude but the staff inside the museum / shop is very...

Awesome experience, a must for chocolate lovers.

Very interesting to learn about the process of making chocolate. Being from South Africa, it makes me proud to see that it all starts in fellow African countries like Ghana.

I hate to sound critical now, because I really enjoyed the experience, but here some feedback on things that could perhaps be improved :)

It does makes me a bit sad that only 3% of the supply ends up back in Africa. It would be nice to show information about fair trade chocolate to guests, and to promote sustainability. The exhibition is about the history, but perhaps the future for all could be thought about too.

The experience can be improved at the start. The handheld audio guide you are given does sometimes not work as you expect, I had to go back to get an English one (I did ask for that, but it seemed to still be in Spanish), and in the 4th experience room we weren't able to get it connected - we held it up in the air, pointed it at everything we could find, and gave up.

After that it took a long time to figure out you don't tap the audio guide to the white tags against each piece like an NFC tag, but rather hold it away from it more like an infrared control. You're given a very brief instruction at the start, but they also seemed to show that you should tap it, instead of point at it. Maybe that's why my language was still Spanish and not English initially.

I believe due to the fact that there is a busy queue at the entrance, especially with corona measures in place, that the beginning is a bit too rushed and takes away from...
