If you're planning a visit to Bastogne and looking for a dining experience that combines history with culinary delight, Le Maxim's Restaurant is a stop you shouldn't miss. Last week, during a battlefield tour, I had the pleasure of dining at this charming establishment. Opting for a lighter lunch, I passed on the Steak, which seemed a bit much for midday, and instead savoured their Tuna Salad baguette accompanied by a generous serving of fries. It was a decision well made; the meal was not only delicious but also offered great value for money.
Situated conveniently in the heart of the city, Le Maxim's boasts a location that's as appealing as its menu. The restaurant itself radiates cleanliness and comfort, making it a welcoming space for both the weary traveller and the eager foodie. What made the experience truly memorable was the warmth and friendliness of the staff. Their attentive service added to the overall enjoyment of the meal.
The fusion of a historical setting with top-notch cuisine makes Le Maxim's a gem in Bastogne. It's a place where the echoes of the past meet the flavours of the present. I left with a content heart and a satisfied palate, already looking forward to my next visit. Whether you're a history enthusiast or simply in search of a good meal, Le Maxim's will not disappoint. The hist also spoke very...

It was around lunchtime and looking past his shoulder we could tell there were only a few, perhaps 3 total, people seated. Why wouldn't he let us dine in Le Maxim's? We were left to assume prejudice against American soldiers. Perhaps he may have not known we were American soldiers, (*Sr. Enlisted and Field Grade Officers), but American's nonetheless. We thanked him for his response and walked away. We had spent the morning traveling and wanted to visit Foy and Bastogne for obvious reasons. By the way, we found the Easy Co. memorial at Foy had been vandalized at some point before...
Read moreWe were saved by this restaurant and the owner letting us in. Almost every other restaurant was closing New Year's Eve. He welcomed us in and we were the only customers. They were a warm and charming staff! The coffees and hot chocolate were excellent. There was a delicious appetizer offered of prosciutto, bread, pickles and mustard. The main entrées were fresh, hot, and delicious. What a gem in the center of Bastogne! They also hold a Guinness Book of World Records title. We met 2 of the guys that were on that record breaking team. It...
