L'exotique 🇹🇭 — Restaurant in Blankenberge

It looked like a nice place. Attentive, friendly service. However the food wasn't good nor real Thai food despite high prices. Flavourless green curry almost without vegetables, just a few bamboo shots. Ground beef dish just spicy without any flavor. Only the frog legs as a starter were passable, although more fatty and oily than crispy as we expected.

The waitress kept asking if it was "lekker" (delicious). I told her no, asked why there were no Thai vegetables in the curry. She came back apologetic, "sorry sir normally we have but today very busy (a Monday?).

The bill, with a scandalously high price for the bottle of water we had (9€ for a water bottle!!), didn't alleviate our frustrating experience.. We felt cheated on the food quality and ripped off by the high prices.

Avoid the place if you want real Thai food, this is just a tourist trap. Worth driving to another place as it's apparently the only Asian restaurant around, which might explain the surprising and undeserved good...

Celled two times 30 mins before closing and nobody picked up so we walked over and arrive 15 mins before closing to be told they closed early. When we mentioned we called we were also told they closed early. There was still people eating their food inside the restaurant and we have enjoyed the service and food in the past but this is very unfortunate and a good reason to not bother again. Wir haben am Nachmittag vom Vortag per SMS reserviert und eine schriftliche Bestätigung gebeten. Leider habe ich diese nicht erhalten. Wir kamen am nächsten Tag um Punkt 18 Uhr an (bei der Eröffnung) und wurden von einer Mitarbeiterin/Chefin sehr grob entfangen. Ein Lächeln als Begrüßung wäre wohl zuviel gewesen! Wir hatten gesagt das wir per sms reserviert haben aber leider keine Antwort bekommen haben. Eine Kurze Antwort wie: "sorry, Restaurant ist voll" wäre wohl nicht Zuviel gewesen. Uns wurde mitgeteilt dass das Restaurant schon seit eine Woche komplett sei! Es kam echt so rüber als ob wir blöd sind das wir sowas nicht wissen (in der Nebensaison). Darauf hin haben wir das Restaurant mit kleinem Kind zügig wieder verlassen. Traurig weil es war seit mehr als 15 Jahren unser Lieblingsrestaurant in Blankenberge gewesen wo wir schon öftern waren. Wir sind dann zu einem Chinesen essen gegangen und wurden dort auch viel netter empfangen und haben dort letztendlich einen schönen Abend verbracht. Und unser Geld am richtigen Ort ausgegeben.
