Ontbijt-Lunch Taboe — Restaurant in Blankenberge

Do not go there. Sorry but if you cannot handle a restaurant, do not own a restaurant. First red flag: when we just arrived and they took 10 minutes to pay attention to us, afterwards it also took a while for them to bring the menu, 15 minutes to bring us our drinks which were bottled juices. For the food it was even worse! 1 hour in total to bring the food, when we tried to cancel it after 45 minutes of patiently waiting, they said it was coming and then still took 15 more minutes to bring it (it was just avocado toasts). The price quality ratio was outrageous. Paid 15 euro for a miserable piece of bread, with a “poached” egg which was not cooked correctly and instead of guacamole it was random pieces of avocado. Even our neighbouring table said theirs had a different presentation and the avocado was squashed and they were also surprised of its bad quality and how expensive they was, we all agreed we would never come back. The “warm” chocolate was so cold the chocolate never melted. When we told the waiter she did not seem to care at first but after a second time she brought another “poached” egg which was raw.. it was as if they were making fun of us. Not...

We visited with 4 friends - two of us were pregnant. When we ordered a brunch formula we told the waitress we couldn’t eat raw salmon and if they could swap the salmon/avocado toast with an alternative. Her reaction was rude, saying that we had to have it without the salmon. We asked if she could maybe offer an egg with it, she sighed and said she would discuss it with the chef. All good, they were going to do it. “We will try to give you a boiled egg” When we paid we noticed they charged us 7,60 euros for the two eggs whilst we didn’t have salmon. When we asked them why they charged us the chef said they always charge for a ‘supplement’ - not pregnant friendly + wrong to not communicate the supplement cost with us. Then he said the waitress must have communicated it badly.

Also, charging more than 6 euros for half a liter of still water, charging us extra for coffees whilst the brunch formula says coffee included, serving juices in plastic bottles that are served in your glass (not hygienic ) and not even giving plates (we used our plates of our coffees)…

Het eten is zeer lekker en ook het glutenvrije aanbod smaakt. Ik ben er als coeliakiepatiënt nog nooit ziek geweest. Helaas is er geen glutenvrije kaart. Dit maakt het moeilijk om te bestellen. Na elke keer 2 glutenvrije pistolets te krijgen kreeg ik er de laatste keer ineens maar 1… Glv pistolets zijn veel kleiner dan een gewone pistolets en dit was te weinig als lunch. Toen er werd gevraagd of alles in orde was heb ik daar een opmerking over gemaakt. Uiteraard was het mijn schuld dat ik zonder glv kaart had moeten weten dat de lunch 1 pistolets is en het ontbijt 2 pistolets. Naast het mooie interieur en het lekkere eten vind je er dus ook een uitbaatster met de langste tenen van West-Vlaanderen. Iedere aanmerking of vraag wordt door haar als een persoonlijke aanval opgenomen. Zoals hier eerder werd vermeld door een andere klant neem je best een tafeltje buiten, tenzij je graag luistert naar het onprofessionele geroddel over voorgaande klanten of klanten die boven zitten. Als buitenlander mag je er gewoon naast blijven staan terwijl ze je zwart maakt. Als je telefonisch reserveert, zeer duidelijk de dag/datum zeggen want anders staat dit op de verkeerde dag ingeboekt en ook dit kan enkel de klant zijn schuld zijn. Reserveer je online, dan kan je worden verward met een andere klant. Wijs je hen daarop, dan krijg je meteen een aanvallende mail terug. Ook als je vermeldt dat je dus glv moet eten is het normaal dat het glv gebak (die overigens zeer lekker is en waar ze reclame mee maken) 4 dagen (incl. weekend) voor sluit uitgeput is. Dit vermelden in het mailverkeer is niet nodig, ik moest maar de enigste glv optie eten… Het concept kiezen op restaurant is voor een coeliakiepatiënt blijkbaar taboe bij Taboe. Eten wat de pot schaft, betalen en zwijgen. Vandaag was de allerlaatste keer dat ik bij jullie heb gegeten en voor 1 keer ben ik zeker dat we hierover op dezelfde golflengte zullen zitten. Uiteraard verwacht ik naar goede gewoonte een aanvallend weerwoord, die ik niet zal lezen, hierop...
