Wow! De Wijngaert was the absolute CULINARY HIGHLIGHT of our entire Belgian food tour! Seriously, this place is a MUST-TRY! Everything that came off that grill was not just great, it was sublime! Perfectly cooked, cut-through-like-butter deliciousness – and that's a rare feat indeed! The grill master is so casual and cool, effortlessly controlling the fire and still had time to chat with us and make us feel like old friends. This was our second time in Bruges, and while we'd been enjoying incredible seafood throughout our trip, we were craving some meat on our last day. Talk about a stroke of luck finding De Wijngaert! We snagged the perfect table, right behind the grill, giving us a front-row seat to the magic. Not only did we get to befriend the grill master (who shared some invaluable local tips!), but the open fire kept us toasty warm – you could really feel the heat radiating! We were so stuffed, sadly we didn't have room for the eel, which I'm sure would have been amazing. My only tiny wish? A bigger selection of beers on tap. But even that wasn't a problem – the amazing grill master directed me to Cafe Cambrinus which opened late and had a large selection! De Wijngaert, you're a winner! We can't wait to come back!

A nice little place in Bruges, Belgium 🇧🇪 small little place and felt like it's a family place and with an open grill as you walk in, which means you have to have something cooked on it ... you can have anything from sausages, ribs to steak , and venison ... the beer was delicious as well as the food and after the rainy morning I had I was a nice place to soak up the atmosphere and get dry and get ready to eat lunch 😋. As you will see in the pictures I had a mixed Grill which had a little of everything and lots more .... well worth the finding if you can and hopefully you can enjoy it after a rainy or snowy cold day just like I did... 💫💫💫💫💫 5 stars.😁🇧🇪

Many glowing comments about this restaurant and they are all correct. A warm and friendly restaurant, this was by far my favorite restaurant from my trip. Cooked while you watch at a wood-fired grill central to the room, the meals were outstanding. My wife loved her rack of lamb and my trio of Bison, Kangaroo, and Zebra was as delectable as it was exotic. Though there were so many inviting restaurants in the area, we went back a second time since we loved it so. A huge thank you to the great staff for making it one of the more memorable parts of a great vacation.

I gave 4 stars but in reality it should be 3.5 We went here because we heard that they have great steak and fries. The steak was very good, not quite great. There was an issue about the doneness of the steak and we had to discuss it with the waitress. I would just say you should be clear about doneness while ordering. We were speaking English and there might have been a problem with the language and communication. They replaced the steak with a new one and it was raw in the middle. They put it on the grill again and cooked it to medium rare. It was a little annoying to send it back 2 times. The waitress was nice about it in the end and offered us some free fries. I personally wouldn't give them a bad rating just because of this, i would just recommend being clear about doneness. When a steak is overcooked it can be a costly mistake and give you a bad feeling for the night. The Flemish stew was really tender and delicious. I would recommend Flemish stew over the steak. Also, the Chocolate Mousse...
