The Gruuthusemuseum is a fantastic, historically interesting, beautiful art filled experience that is attached to the amazing Church of Our Lady next door. The art house here is interesting in the architecture and design is splendid. It’s hard to fathom having so much money that the Catholic Church allows you to build your house adjoining your chosen place of worship, but that’s exactly what happened here. I for one I’m glad that it did. Visiting both of these historical sites on the same day makes perfect sense. This museum and the adjacent church are included on the Bruges city card. To get this card, you can go to any of the places that it gives you access to across the city. Wait to activate the card until you’re ready to go to multiple attractions. The card is 24, 48, or 72 hours depending on the length of your stay and the amount of sightseeing you wish to do. I’ve added lots of photos for your window...

A superb museum both inside and outside. It’s a great way to learn about Bruges history and culture over the ages. The art and historical items were of quality and the actual museum beautifully decorated inside. The grounds surrounding the museum were lovely even in the winter. A canal runs next to the museum and there are some nice photo opportunities along with the impressive brick architecture. There are free lockers for your coats or bags. Also you can do the audio tour on your phone if you have headphones. Pay the few extra euros to get a combination ticket into the church next door to see the Michelangelo. It was the first sculpture by Michelangelo to leave Italy during his lifetime. Bought by Bruges...

Get the Brugelge museum pass! I suggest not getting it until you're ready to dedicate the time for the museums. You can get it at any participating location.

Ok this place was AMAZING. Built in the 1400's by the advisor to the king, the family was so wealthy, they had their house connected to the church as well as their own chapel area so they didn't have to leave their house technically. Weird flex, but ok. The artifacts that are kept in this 17 room manorhouse/museum are bar none. Tapestrys, paintings, lace, books, ledgers, coins, pottery, embroidery, statues, silver, you name it!

Theres also a part where you can stand on a balcony and have an amazing view!

The house itself is magnificent. Well...

Great place ! Maybe a little too expensive for what it is, I paid 13€ as an 18 yo student. The museum is interesting, pretty big. The rooms are coooold, it was 25°C outside but I was shaking inside. The surroundings are beautiful and the museum offers a great view on the city. Plus, there is also a great viewpoint on the church next to the museum and I think you need to pay the church museum to see the inside of it so it's good to have the possibility to see it anyway. No need to pay the ticket before, you can buy it there and there's not a lot of people. My friend and I like to read all the explanations so our visit lasted about 2 hours.
