Nice bakery and tearoom for a breakfast or lunch, although quite expensive. Good attention and service from our waiter. We were lucky and got to eat a brunch in the outer tea room - nice atmosphere although the plastic plants looked very dusty.

We ordered the Carpe Diem full breakfast which has a good selection of food and juice/coffee at an OK price (for Brügge). Asked the waiter if I could swap the boiled egg to a fried egg - as it was allowed on other parts of the menu. No problem for the waiter, but she came back and said some other person had forbidden it - very strange that this should be a problem, not good service.

All in all good food, but one thing must be noted. I ordered an espresso as part of the meal-deal, and was asked if I wanted it "small or normal". This should have rung a bell, as an espresso is called a single or double. I said "normal", and what I got was a whole pot of coffee they called espresso. It was definitely NOT espresso. Luckily, this was the last day open before they took their summer holiday, so I would definitely recommend the management to go try espresso in Italy or Portugal so they can see how espresso is supposed to be made. Sadly the worst espresso in...

Unfortunately there's more than a whiff of 'style over substance' about this establishment. Positives first: the staff are lovely, the setting is delightful and the building has a wonderful history. You'd be hard-pressed to be disappointed by the teas, both in variety and presentation. The sorbet and warm apple tart are delightful. However, the tutti frutti milkshake, despite being the most expensive on the menu, was Bland with a capital B. It didn't taste unpleasant, just like a very slightly sweetened milk. As someone who tremendously enjoys milkshakes, this one was an abject disappointment and the price unfortunately added insult to injury. There was also a certain amount of confusion as to which assortment platters are available when (weekend or weekday, not specified on the menu) and which tray gets you which selection. The platter, when it arrived, was both tasteful and tasty but also verging on the scant when it came to selection and size. For a coffee stop and a full-size pastry from their bakery counter this would probably be a great place. Beyond that, there...

A Magical Experience – A True Coffee Lover’s Paradise

From the moment I stepped into this enchanting little café, I was transported to a place of calm and wonder. The atmosphere here is nothing short of magical – soft lighting, cozy corners, and the gentle hum of music create a perfect ambiance to escape the world for a while. Every detail, from the vintage decor to the welcoming staff, adds to the charm of this hidden gem.

And the coffee... oh, the coffee! Without a doubt, it’s some of the best I’ve ever had. Rich, aromatic, and perfectly brewed, each sip felt like a warm hug. You can tell they truly care about their craft, using only the finest beans and offering a blend of flavors that are both bold and smooth. It’s the kind of coffee that makes you appreciate every drop and leaves you craving more.

If you’re in the area and looking for a place to relax and indulge in one of the best coffees you’ll ever taste, this café is an absolute must-visit. It’s the perfect combination of cozy, magical, and delicious—an experience I’ll cherish and return to time...

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Carpe Diem in Brugge, and I must say, it’s become one of my favorite spots. Whenever I visited before, I usually opted for takeout, but this time, I decided to enjoy the charming interior and pleasant ambiance. The service was top-notch, and I couldn’t help but admire the thoughtfully designed space. As a fan of their pastries, I couldn’t resist trying the Salmon Quiche, and it exceeded all expectations—it’s now the best Quiche I’ve ever had! The price-quality ratio is quite reasonable, and my friend’s breakfast menu was equally impressive and worth every penny. Whether you’re a regular visitor or a first-timer, Carpe Diem offers a delightful experience that goes beyond just great food. I highly recommend it for anyone looking to savor delicious treats in a cozy atmosphere. Can’t wait for my next visit!

So challenging to give reviews during the Christmas period. We went on Sunday mid-morning. It was manic, and another server would have been helpful. They were working hard! This is our second time coming here for breakfast, we came in 2016, and it’s still good. The coffee (pot) was exceptional tasting. Their service was a bit off though. Bringing bread out, but waiting 10 minutes to bring out jam and ham because they are waiting on an egg to cook. The pastries were good, although their bread rolls is just… bread. I wasn’t overly fond of the cheese/ham. Just nothing exceptional or not to my taste. It was expensive for what it was, but not bad. I would return, but wouldn’t order one of the breakfast bundles (which everyone in the restaurant seemed to be ordering).

It was a cafe in Bruges that friends back home in Australia recommended. I actually enjoyed it, so many flavours, mini pickled onions, gherkins, semi sundries tomato, fennel, cucumber, red onion, leaves, baby chilies, roasted capsicum, avocado and obligatory Dutch mayo on the side. Mine was particularly good as you can see , it had the bacon. The only thing it was too big and I had no room for the special Belgian waffle. The owner was super friendly, adept at German Spanish apart from the usual Dutch and French with customers. My wife had her coffee the way she liked, liquid cream on the side. Ceylon tea was done properly with boiling water added to the leaves before it got to the table..I know right.
