Maharaja Indian — Restaurant in Charleroi

We were really looking forward to trying this place, but unfortunately the experience was quite disappointing. We waited over an hour for our food, which felt far too long given how quiet the restaurant was at the time. When the food eventually arrived, I ordered a Madras and a Korai Ghost expecting two different styles of curry, but they both looked and tasted identical. It was difficult to tell them apart, which was a letdown.

The menu stated that curries were £14.95 and included naan and rice, but when the bill came we were charged £18.95 just for the curry alone and had to pay extra for sides. That felt misleading and overpriced. The naan we received was burnt in places, and the mango lassi unfortunately wasn’t pleasant – it had an odd taste that didn’t feel fresh.

Service was quite slow, and although the staff weren’t rude, there was very little engagement or effort to make the experience better. For the price, you’d expect a much higher standard of both food and customer service.

I have visited many places outside India and crave for our food. I must say this place, the food taste and 👌owner cum chef Dhamesh Paa ji and Bernard are the best people you will find to interact. They not only serve the best food but also make sure you feel like home there by chit chating. They made my stay very comfortable there by guiding me in preparing my itinerary.
