...well, i personally, when arriving at an establishment, i give them a big smile, to begin with, I try to break the ice, let's say, when asking for a table. Don't forget, these guys stand hours and hours on their feet, coping with, mainly, tourists that are very demanding. The waitor even asked us if we want to drink only or have a dinner, so... really don't get the bad reviews about it. That's for all the negative reviews, maybe try to treat personeel like you want to be treated? Sat here 4 years ago, i wasn't very excited about. Sat here again, same feelings; would i come back if i was a local? I might, occasionally. It's just another restaurant, no wow factor. That said, it ain't bad either. Maybe we were lucky, don't know, but all the staff at that moment were really really friendly, good English, fast service. The menu i found it on the basic side, but again, you don't come here for a 7 course dinner, you come here for the REALLY sublime views, eat something fast and be on the road again. I loved it, their "jambonneau". If you ain't Belgian, if u never tasted it and if you are a "good eater", you won't regret it.Try it and thank me later. I lived in the past in Belgium for 6 years, that was one of the best ones I ever had. And last but not least, LEFFE from the...
Read moreWe visited Cafe Leffe whilst spending a couple of hours in Dinant, mostly because we saw that it was dog friendly.
Upon arrival it seemed very busy inside, but after about 5 minutes of waiting we were soon sat down at a table on the terrace. This was lovely as it had great views over the river and they had put the heaters on so everyone stayed warm.
The waiter came over to take our orders, none of the menus were in English but we felt ignorant that we didn’t know the language so managed to use an app to translate what the dishes were 😅 we both decided on the chicken breast with a creamy mushroom sauce & fries. Our drinks were quickly delivered along with a little bowl of garlic herb olives whilst we waited for our food which were delicious.
Unfortunately, they seemed to have forgotten about our food and after about 45 minutes of waiting, the waiter came and apologised profusely and explained the issue. About 5 minutes later, the food finally arrived and it was really good!
Overall I would recommend Cafe Leffe if you’re looking for somewhere to stop in Dinant. Just a shame about the long wait for food, so maybe don’t recommend if you are in a rush to be somewhere! However, loved that it was dog friendly, nice waiters, great views from...
Read moreVisit this place today.Looks decent from the outside, but inside, the atmosphere that we felt (from the bartender and the waitress) was very unpleasant and unwelcome. They immediately asked us if we are going to order to eat, or to drink only.Since we were in a mood for a drink or two, we told them that we are there for a couple of drinks. Then they immediately, arrogantly, and unpleasantly, i would say, sent us out to some other place (although we notices that none of the persons inside was having a meal, only drinks(coffe, beer, soda drinks and etc)).The funniest thing is that this is a caffè/bar(ironically it is called cafe Leffe), not a Restaurant only(so having a couple of drinks without a meal should be more than a acceptable option, at least to my understanding), but i guess it is not for the foreign tourists .I have never had this kind of unpleasant experience in my life visiting so many places. Very, very, very disappointing and unwelcoming. Never ever again at this place. Strongly recommend to avoid it.There are other places on the river walk where you will be treated...
