We visited this restaurant with high hopes given the ratings and the price. Although the staff who served us initially seemed friendly and accommodating, his constant persuasion to order from the expensive special menu left us feeling slightly accosted. To make matters worse, when we expressed an issue with our hamburger, which was extremely hard to chew on, the waiter brought us a knife to cut through the meat and suggested that we should have ordered quality meat from the special menu instead. We asked the waiter to return the dish to the chef. However, the chef's attitude towards us was even worse, she asked him to relay that because we ate “more than half” of the burger (we in fact only ate less than a quarter), there was nothing they can do. We’re not the type to preach “the customer is always right” but we would have appreciated them offering us a new dish or a refund – but NOTHING. The chef stood by the counter almost scowling at us for sending the food back and ensuring that we didn't dine and bail. The food overall tasted pre-cooked and not fresh, and it's disappointing to see that overcooked meat/steak is a recurring issue in this restaurant, as evidenced by other online reviews.
We were so appalled by our experience that it completely ruined our trip to Dinant. Surprised to see such a high rating for this restaurant on Google, but perhaps they were cutting corners during a...
Read moreWe went here for lunch. Although it was next to the boulevard and might therefore be a bit of a tourist trap, we went anyway. Unfortunately, we left very disappointed. We waited more than 40 minutes for our food (only 2 dishes, no entrees) and there seemed to be a mix up in the kitchen as the waiters had come by a couple of times with the wrong dishes (belonged to other people, even different tables!). To pay 21 euros for two small meatballs with a handful of fries is ridiculous! 26 euros for fish (the size of the palm of my hand) and chips is too. I understand paying for the service and the rent of this place but please at least give some more fries or a salad with the meatballs. We also both had to forsake our drinks because there was a wasp problem (like 8 constantly at our table alone). We couldn't even finish our drinks because of this. I get that the restaurant can do little about this. But maybe some sort of trap is useful? I spilled my drink after a wasp sting too and was too annoyed to order another 3.30 soft drink. Very unpleasant experience. Not worth the price and very scary due to all the insects. The staff was friendly, the food was okay. But that's the only good thing I'm...
Read moreWe sat outside by the river so the view was very nice. Big portions of food, we all ordered beef. The olives came with a long hair. My son ordered Milanese, which came with a creamy tomato sauce and capers on top - for me Milanese is the pure fried steak with no sauce. I ordered beef with aubergine, tomatoes, peppers and cheese, my expectation was to get a grilled piece of meat with the sauce on the side, however it also came fried “Milanese” style and this was not written on the menu. The others on the table ordered different types of beef and as well they were all a Milanese with some sort of sauce on top. So a bit disappointing. Aside from that one of the sides came wrong and another one missing, which I told the waiter. The missing side took so long to arrive that we finished our plates before it was even there. Tiramisu was tasty. Communication was difficult as they don’t speak English very well. All in...
