Café Boteco — Restaurant in Ghent

Nice and cozy place. Quite crowded, but the atmosphere is really cool, as if you came to have a drink with a big family. We booked the table before our visit, but no one came to us at the entrance to offer our booked table to us, so 1st minutes I felt lost. But then we just sat at the free table. Waiters were very busy (but very friendly and polite), as there was really a lot of people. That is why we were waiting quite long to order something. But after we made our order, we received our drinks and food quickly. As for food, there is no big choice. Pasta, lasagna, penne, 5 types of salads. But the portions are really good and dishes are delicious. So, though my first visit was not ideal, I liked the place very much and definitely will come...

We were ordering some ham and cheese toasts. They cost 6.5€ on the menu. The waiter asked in a seemingly friendly way, if we wanted some vegetables on the side. We said yes. Later it turned out that it made the price go up to 14€... What an utter scam! It was over 2X more expensive for a few pieces of salad. Also it wasn't communicated towards us in any way! It ruined an otherwise nice experience, definitely not...

This place is so great. You walk in and it feels like your living room(in a good way)! Cozy, friendly, and great service even though they usually have a good crowd. The back terrace is so nice... The food is clearly freshly made, we couldn’t stop going for dinner. The beer menu was deep and well priced. The best part of this place are the two owners they are so personable and take care of...
