Sushi Plaza — Restaurant in Ghent

I'm honestly stunned at the high rating. I suppose some people haven't had quality sushi before?? OK first the food. The sushi is not traditional. It is rolled way too big with too much rice and too little filling. The filling did not taste fresh. Fried shrimp was soggy and cold for example, spicy tuna tasted like it was from a can. Just gross. Further, salmon nigiri was grocery store level or below. Fishy smelling. Too soft. Not fresh.

Edamame was soggy and overcooked.

Now service, one waitress for a sold out restaurant. Poor woman and unacceptable waiting times for food and drinks. Also the lights were broken where we sat...in the dark.

Terrible service!!! We had a reservation at 21:20, we arrive on time and at the door we waited for 10 mins for someone to take us to our table but no one did, so i asked the waitress where to sit and that we have a reservation, then she tells me to sit on a table that was not clean completely, I took the menus from another table since she didn’t give any and we literally waited 30 mins with no one coming to our table so we decided to get up and leave. It was already 22:00 and no one approached us. The worst...

To be honest, this was the worst sushi I’ve ever had. What shocked me the most was the rice—it was far too hard, almost as if it hadn’t been properly cooked. The texture completely ruined the balance of the sushi, no matter how fresh the fish might have been.

As a Japanese person who has eaten sushi all my life, I can confidently say this place does not meet even the most basic standards. If you’re Japanese or familiar with authentic sushi, I would strongly recommend avoiding this place—you’ll likely end up...
