Lovely Setting for Children, Let Down by Rude Service
The outdoor area is the highlight of the visit. It’s large, well-equipped, and safe — perfect for letting children run around and have fun. The playground is well-maintained, and there’s plenty of space for families to sit nearby and relax. If you’re visiting with kids, it’s definitely a child-friendly environment that offers a lot of potential.
Unfortunately, the service was extremely disappointing. From the moment we arrived, we felt rushed and unwelcome. The waitstaff seemed impatient and almost irritated by basic requests or questions. Even worse, the boss/manager was openly pushy and came across as arrogant rather than helpful. It felt more like we were being pressured to order quickly and leave than actually being welcomed as guests.
There was little warmth or hospitality, and instead of a relaxed family outing, the atmosphere felt tense and uncomfortable. We’ve visited many family-friendly restaurants over the years, and this was one of the least pleasant in terms of customer treatment.
Marie Siska has a lot going for it in terms of location and facilities for children, but unless the management and staff seriously improve their attitude toward guests, it’s hard to justify a return visit. Good service is just as important as good amenities, and unfortunately, this place seems to have...
Read moreComing to Knokke for 20 years, I have never been more ashamed from a restaurant from this city.
This is a restaurant that will SCAM you, putting money well above their clients, which is strange since they are their primary source of income.
We wanted to play at the mini golf and it was suddenly heavily raining when arriving. So we waited 15 minutes in the rain for Marie Siska restaurant to open so that we can take cover with a drink and maybe a little something to eat.
However, when open, they were extremely unwelcoming (did not even looked at us in the eyes) and the manager denied us the entry unless we take something to eat. So we thought of taking mussels along with 2 drinks. But once installed, the waiter refused our order, and told us we are only allowed to eat if we both have a MAIN course (no fries, no starters,… only main courses). So we were forced to eat something we did absolutely not need and extremely expensive (16€ for a canteen soup). We stayed there for 1 hour and 95% of the tables were empty. Policies like this ruin the experience of hundreds of clients and they don’t care, the only thing the manager cares about is the numbers they will get by the end of the quarter.
If you dislike restaurants that behaves like absolute scammers, that are unwelcoming, and with prices way above the quality of the food, AVOID...
Read moreAbsolutely appalling treatment at what used to be a cherished family institution
Our family has been coming to Siska in Knokke for generations. My parents brought us here when we were kids, and now we bring our children. It was a place filled with nostalgia and happy memories…until yesterday.
Seven members of our family were having lunch there, and they had invited my daughter to join them briefly before her work shift on the beach. She couldn’t stay for the meal, but accepted their offer to share a quick aperitif.
What followed was absolutely disgraceful.
Despite the restaurant being mostly empty (on a sunny day, no less!) and the table being for eight people, meaning she wasn’t taking up any extra space, the server flat-out refused to serve her anything, solely because she wasn’t staying to eat.
Not only was this policy absurd and completely inflexible, but the attitude of the server was shockingly rude and unpleasant. No understanding, no respect, no basic courtesy. Just pure arrogance.
This kind of behaviour is completely unacceptable, especially from a restaurant that once prided itself on being welcoming and family-friendly. The iconic heart-shaped waffles and playgrounds don’t justify treating loyal customers like they don’t matter.
Siska has clearly forgotten what made it special....
