Imagine for a moment that it's a warm and sunny day, and you're lounging on the beach in search of something to eat. Instead of a light ice cream, why not try something more substantial that will help you sleep well on the beach? The perfect choice would be a Brussels waffle from ‘T Zwarte Schaap, located right by the North Sea.
The restaurant boasts a spectacular view of the North Sea in St. Idesbald, allowing you to enjoy your waffles while taking in the beauty of the surroundings. Eating a ‘T Zwarte Schaap waffle while strolling along the beach is an unbeatable experience that enhances the overall feeling of pleasure. If you're feeling too warm, the waffle, preferably served with cream, can cool you down, and it's a light dish that won't weigh you down if you want to walk. If you prefer staying indoors, you can still enjoy the magnificent ocean views from the restaurant.
One of the many reasons we frequent this waffle house is that we have a longstanding relationship with the owner. The restaurant has been in operation since my mother was a child, and perhaps we're biased because it's the waffle house everyone in our family frequents. However, we've discovered that every time we eat Brussels waffles at another location, they lack the fluffiness, texture, and charisma of the ‘T Zwarte Schaap waffles made by the CEO. When the boss prepares the waffles, they're magical, with flavors that dance in your mouth and a performance that is completed when topped with whipped cream.
Despite the waffles being great, they can be a bit too crispy or overcooked when prepared by someone other than the owner. This has occurred too many times to count, and while the formula and technique are solid, the fluffiness and softness of the waffles seem to disappear or are overdone when the owner is not present. You don't want to eat burnt waffles; the ideal version is when they're made perfectly. While I won't blame the employees, there are occasions when they get it right. However, the best version is when the CEO is present.
Whether you're a fan of waffles or the sea, you'll have a wonderful time at ‘T Zwarte Schaap. Indulge in a delicious waffle and become a black sheep whose tummy shines and sparkles with...
Read moreOne star is in fact one too many. Last year I could still get some warm or cold milk with my Earl Grey tea. Not anymore as the lady-owner decided you could only get those little plastic pots of coffeemilk. If she would have to do that for me she would have to do it for all her customers. What the heck is wrong with that, you're in the business of serving your customers. She seems to prefer to add to the plastic soup in the ocean, as she stated, whether you have use the plastic pots or not, we throw them in the dustbin and so she did with the 3 pots I wanted to exchange for a small canister of milk. What kind of point she wanted to make is beyond me. She also did not offer to bring me something else although I explained, the combination of the coffeemilk with tea was not drinkable. So I paid the bill of € 3,70 and left without using the...
