Biko — Restaurant in Sint-Niklaas

Mediocre food and horrible service. I ordered avocado toast €17 and a ginger lemonade drink €5.

After around 7 minutes, the drink came and it tasted really bad. It tasted like water and ginger without any lemon. I asked to change my drink or to remake the drink but the waitress said that's how they make it in a rudely manner. She said she would ask her colleagues and that was the last time I saw her. Upon asking the second waitress the same question, she responded with "no we don't change drinks". I asked for some sugar to save the drink, it didn't help. This way of working in a restaurant is unacceptable as well as a €5 drink with 3 ingredients.

Avocado toast: the bread was the only positive part of the dish. The rest was a mess. Random ingredients thrown on the plate to make it look good but the taste wasn't there. Some of the ingredients were just horrible. For instance, even a store bought hummus tastes better than the hummus from this place. They charged €1.50 for a boiled egg. The egg wasn't boiled for long enough as the egg white was still partly raw.

I don't think these people are qualified to work in a restaurant. Because if you treat customers in a bad manner, you turn away possibly long term customers. Also, the prices should be more in line with the usage and service of the product.

To top it off, the tables outside weren't clean and badly decorated. Bad smell too.

To put it together, I will never come back because I...

€41 for two badly executed meals and drinks. The only good thing were the pancakes that I ordered, they were still warm. Very bad service, one of them in particular was rude and unbothered.

Pancakes were supposed to be drizzled with honey, it wasn’t present. Fruit proportion was ok. The grapefruit drink was supposed to be freshly made, I highly doubt that because it tasted store bought.

My partner’s drink was ginger lemonade, we both tasted it and it tasted of water with ginger. No lemon in it whatsoever. We asked to return it and the waitress said “we don’t change drinks and this is how we always make it”. Instead of apologising and offering a better drink, perhaps an alternative, she just walked off and said she would ask her colleagues. We didn’t see her again. We then asked another waitress if we could change the drink and they said “no”.

€41 for what we got, it feels very overpriced and on top of that rude service. We will not...

We kwamen net na de middag voor koffie en gebak maar het eerste wat het personeel tegen ons zei was dat de keuken gesloten was. Dat is zeker correct, maar een hallo was nog beter geweest. De bediening zelf verliep vlot, vriendelijk en correct. Helaas was de kwaliteit van het gebak ondermaats. De stukken taart waren industrieel, voorzien van een kleffe brei vieze karamel uit een bus. De toef slagroom en vers fruit waren daarbij geen meerwaarde. De inrichting van de zaak doet me denken aan een huiskamer, maar ook aan de rommel die daar soms bij hoort. Het allegaartje van siroop flessen en ornamenten waren een kakofonie en gaven geen rustgevende indruk die ik verwacht van een lunchzaak. Ik merkte heel wat potentieel om hier een prima zaak van te maken maar dan zullen er wel wat dingen dringend...
