Second time here and overall it is much worse now. I myself am familiar with Persian food. I also brought a guest with me who is not as familiar to the Persian cuisine as me, and we both agree that Royal Ispahan does not live up to its name anymore: just calling this place Ispahan is enough of a compliment.
So what is worse? First, the service is horrible. Lots of delays, uncomfortable seating arrangements and a forgetful waiter. All this can of course be forgiven and forgotten if the food is decent, but unfortunately even the food is of poor quality. The kebabs are tasteless, way too salty and have a funny smell (probably because they are not fresh). The rice tasted like cardboard. Moreover, the starters and side dishes are priced extremely high compared to other Persian restaurants.
Lastly, no one checked our COVID vaccination pass here and I am sure other guests weren't checked either. Shame.
