Ferme de Mont Saint Jean — Restaurant in Waterloo

After sampling a Waterloo beer in the Le Wellington restaurant next to the memorial, we had to go 5 minutes down the road to the brewery, if only to buy some of the excellent products. We had been told there was a museum there relating to the farm's use by Wellington as a battlefield first aid station and hospital that was included in the Waterloo 1815 ticket, but discovered it was'n. However, the very pleasant and helpful lady in the shop kindly opened it for us, and it turned out to be way better than the nearby Waterloo museum, Extremely interesting, and covering a much wider story of the battle. The shop was very reasonably priced, and we left with many souvenirs! The hand crafted Waterloo goblets are much better value here than the poor value museum up the road at 1815. An excellent place to drop by, and had we not been heading back to England that day we'd have stayed for food and the evenings live entertainment. One to remember if ever in...

We have been here now three times and always found something that disappointed us. The nagative aspects is the disorganised service with often rude waiters. Two times we ordered only to be told much later that certain things did not exist on the menu, and once we were even charged for something that never arrived. I recommend avoiding the QR menus that made us to pay via the phone, as after using it were told something we ordered had run out we still paid for it. The poor service is a big shame as this has a lot of potential since the location is fantastic and the interior (as well as exterior on nice days) is really nice. La cata ! Je ne me pronoce par pour la partie restaurant, nous avons été en début de soirée pour l'apéro en terasse.

Après la visite de la ferme d'Hougomont à quelques mètres de là, petit apero avec les enfants (5 adultes et 4 enfants) vers 17h30 à la Brasserie Mont-Saint-Jean. Les + : Il y a une pleine de jeux, c'est un bel endroit et il y a une belle vue... Les - : tout le reste qui annulent largement les +. D'abord à part la bière "Waterloo", difficile d'avoir une autre bière (à la limite passe encore vu le lieu) mais alors... quelle catastrophe au niveau du service ! La 1ere serveuse nous dit d'entrée n'avoir pas envie d'être là et aurait préférée être en congé... et le 2eme je préfère même pas en parler... ce serait trop long et pathétique... un manque de respect inouïe qui m'a fait aller voir la gérante (ou patronne je ne sais pas trop) mais qui n'a qu'à moitié réglé le problème y allant d'un "bientôt fini (lire: la journée), après j'aurai 2 jours de repos". Bref, il me semble qu'on a oublié l'envie de servir, de faire plaisir au client et de ceux qui viennent dépensent leur argent !! En réalité la base de l'horeca quoi ! Je dis juste que si on aime pas son métier et bien on change ! Ce qui m'inquiète le plus est que c'était un assez général à tt le personnel. Alors il est vrai qu'il a fait chaud, c'était un gros week-end pour Waterloo avec les reconstitutions et on est venu en fin de journée ! Mais ce n''est pas à moi (à nous) de le payer. Je me suis rarement senti snobé comme ca, je n'y retournerai pas/plus... je suis de la région et allait aussi aux aperos (dont l'entrée devient payante d'ailleurs)... j'irai donc dépenser mon argent ailleurs où le respect...
