Highly unrecommended! Went for a family lunch and the experience was just bad. Let's start with 1L water for 10€. The hapjes they served with the drinks were almost the best part of the food. I saw on the menu a croque monsieur for 19€, that sets the scene for a promising experience.

We ordered some more drinks and hapjes to share. The hapjes arrived before the drinks. In general service was not good, it was slow, they walked around confused. Up to 3 times they came to our table with drinks and food that we had not ordered. I am not the most picky person with the waiters, but when you put Michelin star prices, you definitely should expect a professional services. Except the fried fish, which was good, all the rest was well below average. Charging 23€ for small pieces of garnaal croquettes should be a crime.

We moved on to the main dish, we went for the suggestion, home smoked salmon toast. Sounded promising... Mistake! This is a tip for the restaurant, either do not smoke it yourself and buy it somewhere else or don't offer it (definitely do not suggest it!). It was strong and extremely salty, it did not melt in your mouth and it was chewy. I am not exaggerating when I say that the cheapest supermarket smoked salmon is probably better than this one. Some of the slices were also too thick. The 'toast' and 'salad' nouns on the dish name could have been omitted as the toast was 2 small stuckjes of bread and 3 leaves of lettuce with 1 cherry tomato and half egg.

Moving to the coffee, for some strange reason they call 'espresso' to a normal koffie (full glass of brown water) and 'moka' to what they pretend to sell as 'espresso'. It was a bad tasteless coffee, at 3.5€, yes, 3.5€ for an espresso. I think that is a new record for the highest price I have ever paid for an espresso, the previous record was held by a specialty coffee place in the city center of Antwerp (at least that one is good).

At the end we ended up paying over 60 euros per person for a VERY underwhelming lunch. You should only go there if you are open to have an overpriced lunch or coffee, with bad quality food but with a very pretty view.

I usually have the mindset to not put bad reviews because there are always opinions and differences in taste when it comes to food, unless, of course, I have not been treated well, which does not happen often and definitely this was NOT the case. However this places felt like being robbed, a place that if it cannot offer a better food quality at a lower price, should just close.

Edit: forgot to add that they brough 2 times dirty plates, not leftover food dirty, but dark...

I expected more from this restaurant, which is located in a very beautiful spot with the option to dine almost by the water. The two of us ordered a Rumsteak Limousin and stone grill (heated stone placed on table, on which customer can grill the meat). The rumsteak was brought to the table and served very simply with five cherry tomatoes, (see picture) and some sauces on the side while the fries were brought five minutes later. I added some olive oil to make the meat a bit more palatable (it wasn't tender). The meat for grilling was brought before the heated stone, and again, we had to wait another five minutes. While the grilled meat was good, I can't say the same for the rumsteak. Additionally, I believe that dishes should be served together or at least not five minutes later, including the sides. Some people at a table not far from ours asked us for the bottle of oil just to add more flavor to their meat. In summary: great location, clean environment, one good dish, the other somewhat disappointing, and service not quite up to par, though the waiters were polite. Perhaps it would have been better to choose the sole, which seemed well-prepared. Prices...

We booked Pacific Eiland, as it was recommended by our coach operator. We were a group of 230 UK Scouts, briefly stopping for the Last Post memorial.

Well, we had a few problems - but all of our making - the staff and the restaurant were fantastic.

Firstly, we were about 15mins late arriving, but this was not a problem. Next, 170 Scouts all arriving in one go for chicken and chips - all served up flawlessly and with a smile. Next, one coach was delayed by 90mins. No problem, they kept it hot, and then severed super fast so that we could still make the service.

And added into all of this, one if the Scouts suffered from a medical episode from the travelling. The staff called an ambulance (so that they could describe where we were easier), and then stayed with us and assisted in interrupting with the ambulance staff.

They even boxed up a meal for one of the leaders who had been running around.

Than you very much for going above and beyond and assisting us, and we apologise to any other customers that where their, hoping for a quiet drink and...

We chose to eat to get away from the noisy faire in Ypres Town Square. We booked at just after 5pm for 6pm, so we could have a walk around the lovely lake - this took about 30 minutes. We were given a table right by the lake, and chose cod fillet, and smoked salmon spaghetti. Both were excellent - the spaghetti had a generous amount of salmon, and it was a good sized cod fillet. We drank rose wine and Orzal blonde. The cost for two meals was €95, which for a lakeside table, good food and good service was fair. Note it was also dog friendly, as we had our spaniel with us. A good alternative to the centre of Ypres.
