I have been to this cafe restaurant twice, and I noticed that the staff is very unfriendly and unhelpful, I introduced myself each time in front of their bars, I do this often to see the service more closely, there are generally 5 or 6 waitresses milling around this bar, it is after 10 minutes that a waitress asks me what I want, ok, I ask her if I could have a beer that is not too strong, pretending to work she makes me wait, and the others have better things to do talking among themselves, then I have another waitress who comes from the kitchens and asks me what I want, I ask her for a light beer on tap, she offers me one, then I go with my beer to the terrace, I sit down and I ask a waitress who was there for an ashtray who answers me very curtly in a Flemish dialect of the region and that I did not understand, and so I go to look myself the ashtray in question which is on the 2nd terrace, there she comes back with a rather threatening behavior and takes the ashtray to put it back where I took it, and speaks to me telling me what language I speak while inside she had heard in which language I expressed myself to order a beer with difficulty, I had expressed myself in French, it is sometimes a trick that I use and whose reaction sometimes among the Flemish turns out very often to be negative, and unfortunately a very deep feeling of a certain racism coming from the Flemish community towards the French speakers, being from Brussels I am perfectly bilingual and therefore the language in which I responded to this waitress is German which is my 2nd language and the 1st is Spanish, yes, as if some waitresses have to think twice before opting for aggressive behavior, and to finish the waitress who served me took the defense of her colleague by taking my beer and me repaying, the Flemish for a large majority do not have their 2 feet on the ground and very often forget that all of Flanders was the poorest region of Belgium and that...
Read moreIn spite of the lovely location, great service, a nice ambience & a great menu, the restaurant underwhelmed. Along with the many positives I pointed out, there are some negatives which really bring down the experience.
Firstly, and most importantly, I don't get how one can serve microwaved food in the same plate in which it was microwaved. It's common knowledge that if food is microwaved, the plate is as warm as the food which was the case for my vegan sweet potato dish. Moreover, my food arriving within 5 minutes is already enough to justify that point: sweet potatoes take long to cook, let alone to season and serve them.
Secondly, the food is extremely overpriced for the quality. The plating of the food, the ingredients used and the taste really doesn't justify such high prices. My vegetable rice side dish arrived in a tiny warm black bowl (microwaved again) as if it were some pieces of olives, no garnish, no decoration, nothing.
The restaurant wasn't even crowded when I arrived, most people had come for drinks, which makes me think that the chef really needs some motivation. Would love to visit the place again if the chef really cooks the food (the incumbent or if they hire...
Read moreI arrived at the restaurant, which is step free, and took the lift to the second floor. I then waited a few minutes for a table until a waiter finally approached me claiming he hadn't seen me come in even though I use a bright green wheelchair. I sat at the table given to me. I ordered a Fried Chicken with sour cream, which was very greasy and the cream was very fatty and not at all sour. I also ordered a medium rare steak with mushroom sauce and a tomato salad. The steak was very chewy and I found the sauce a bit too heavy. I also ordered a Virgin Mojito with the least amount of ice possible, which was very nice but with too much ice. My dad had the same food as me, but with pepper sauce. He too found the steak to be quite chewy. When my dad asked for the bill the waiter tipped his beer into the tomato salad, which I was going to eat, and walked off, without asking if my dad wanted a free refill of his beer. I obviously couldn't eat the salad as I don't drink alcohol. I will never go again. The restaurant is accessibly awful. Also a 25cl glass of...
