WEDDING REVIEW
My husband and I live here in the village and chose PBC for our wedding celebration for a few reasons; high capacity, pool and beach access, full kitchen and multiple bars, morning to night time availability for large events (all day pool party), cleanliness of both inside facilities, pool, and the beach itself, covered seating in case it rained, large stage area, kid friendly atmosphere... I could go on and on. Ultimately, I had full trust in Heather and Shane's ability to handle ANY situation (If you've been to Belize, or live here then you know what I mean; bad weather, medical emergency, lack of resources, etc.).
This was the first wedding PBC had, and it was a complete fairytale. From the beginning planning stages to the date of the celebration, Heather was hands on and readily available for planning, prep, questions, help, and encouragement along the way. With such a large group including so many different kinds of people and ages, we wanted to make it an all day-unconventional event, starting formal and then transitioned to beach party. The early ceremony and main lunch was followed by pool time, karaoke, snow cone truck and then later on the Jolly Lamma food truck for extra snackage. We were able to source everything we needed with PBC's flexible thinking and "we can do it" attitude/approach. The staff was more than exceptional and worked as a team the entire time. Everyone from the bartenders, hostess, waiters, cleaning crew, and even security guards were all pitching in to help with decorating and execution of our perfect day. From Mario, the main bartender along with some help spent all night and morning chopping coconuts and bamboo to ensure we had our perfect "signature drinks" for all the guests to Shane one of the owners serving dinner alongside rest of support staff. The chef was very attentive to all the allergy and preferences among our massive family and friend group.
In addition to the beautiful event space, we utilized the rental property next door, Case Del Sol that PBC helps manage. It was super convenient for our additional out of town guests to stay there close by to the venue and be in walking distance of all pre wedding shenanigans. It was also extremely vital to use as an air conditioned preparation space for ourselves and our baby.
PBC went above and beyond to ensure our needs and all the guest's needs were more than met. From the sinking cake (NOT PBC's fault) to the random stingray sting that happened to one of our guests, the staff was right there working as a TEAM to keep our day beautiful and...
Read morePlacencia, Belize has many dining and restaurant options to select from. In the past two weeks, we have been to many of the restaurants enjoying a variety of cuisines, but not twice, let alone three times.
Update: The four of us enjoyed our last dinner at Four Nine before leaving Placencia. It was another delicious feast and the best way to complete our vacation.
The Four Nine Restaurant at the Placencia Beach Club is a seaside gem shining on the north end of the beachwalk. I would be more than happy to enjoy every lunch and dinner there for my last week in Belize as the menu is so delicious and varied.
The talented and flavor forward Chef Daniel Lopez Vazquez creatively melds the daily abundance of fresh fish and seafood of the Caribbean Sea and the freshest foods of Latin America with his skilled preparation and presentation that taps European, Mexican and Mayan cultures, yet is uniquely Belizean.
Chef Daniel created a requested "Please make us what you love to prepare menu" for our party of four. We were presented with a four course meal that was, by request, focused on seafood and fish. Each course was beautifully plated, flavorfully sauced garnished, and most importantly, the seafood, fish, and local vegetables were perfectly and delicately prepared. Should Chef Daniel ever decide to author a cookbook, I will be first in line for his Habenero Jam reduction pooled beneath an appetizer portion of skewered fresh catch of day and his delicately herbed Velouté which he presented tableside and spooned over each plate of our pan seared Grouper. Spectacular. Delicious.
The dining room and bar service staff greet you and treat you with the utmost care, humor, and true sense of being welcomed as a part of the family.
The lunch and dinner menu provides many options for fish, chicken, meat, and vegetable preference. Ordering a meal, as we did, would be at the discretion of Chef.
Owners Heather and Shane Kenny have created a delightful beach resort with pool, swim-up bar, dining, beach lounging, and activities at The Placencia Beach Club and Resort. The location is Placencia Main Road, north edge of Placencia Village. Look for their sign on the seaside of the road 100 yards north of Casa Placencia, then take a right towards the sea or walk north on the beach sidewalk and turn right to the sea. Check online or their Facebook page for additional details and special events offered at the resort and restaurant.
I do recommend making dinner reservations as some evenings are much busier...
Read moreVery rude and unprofessional staff.
We arrived and most of the tables were empty. We waited. The staff effectively managed to ignore us and not even acknowledge our existence. Since there were no reservation labels, We assumed we may as well just sit down and wait. 15 min and nothing happened. Then an American guy with a staff t-shirt (maybe owner) came and told us that the table is reserved. At this point I expected him to offer some suggestions like changing the table or be seated on one of the beach chairs next to the pool of which there was an abundance. We only wanted to have a drink and would've been happy to sit anywhere. However the waiter just almost mockingly said that we could come back at 7 (it was 6:20 and many tables empty), but he wasn't sure if there would be any food left. Basically telling us FU, we don't want you here. I mean what? Is this the sort of customer care and service this establishment wishes to project to it's potential customers? This was a truly humiliating experience for both sides. You guys should take a McDonalds trainee course in customer service. Avoid this place at all costs. I'm sure that I, and all of my friends that travel to...
