Came here for Valentine's day and they had a set menu. For $100usd a person including tip I thought the food was okay but not worth the money.
To start, our server Patricia was super nice and sweet. We tipped her well and she deserved every penny of it!
We were given a complimentary cassava appetizer with fish infused hummus. It was presented in a very creative display but it was not practical because the cassava chip fell off right away. I do appreciate the creativity effort. The hummus was tasty.
For our actual starters we had the beet carpaccio with goat cheese which was really good, and the seafood coconut pasta. It was really creamy and decadent.
For our mains they were good but nothing that blew our taste buds away. We had the steak and the tenderloin. We were shocked with how much meat you get and the steak was a good mix of fat and meat, but it did not taste like it was seasoned well. It came with a red wine jus which was good, and another cassava side on a hot plate and vegetables.
The tenderloin were a different story because we found them very, very dry. Again it came with veggies and another baked cheesy cassava side.
The dessert was interesting. The cheesecake was standard and came with fresh fruit but the passion fruit lava cake was not good. First, it's not a typical lava cake like we were used to because it resembled more of a baked cast iron brownie. The ice cream on top was flavourful but I think the cake was undercooked? Because I pretty much ate raw chewy dough.
The only good thing about this restaurant was our server and the view. I did not think the food was...
Read more5 stars are just not enough for this restaurant. I dined there 3 times in the past week, including New Year's Eve and not once did I fail to be amazed at the level of service, the friendliness of the staff and the incredible food.
New Year's Eve was an amazing roast boar with rice and champagne. We dined there again the next evening with a starter of fishcakes and followed by snapper served with curried chickpeas and coconut rice (pictured). All coupled with the very generous Jalapeño Juice cocktails and all at a very reasonable price. My partner has a gluten allergy so they very helpfully made sure that the fishcakes were made with corn flour just for her.
I have eaten at many of this planet's greatest restaurants and I am about halfway through my bucket list of three-star Michelin restaurants. I would rate Muna as very much at that level and at the very least deserving...
Read moreWe can’t say enough great things about Muna. We coordinated a wedding/welcome dinner for 23 out of town guests in advance with the help of Camille and the process was absolutely seamless—we just showed up on time after a long day of travel and the table was beautifully set and we were the only party in our space. The exceptional experience started there and continued through drinks, appetizers, dinner and desserts, all of which were excellent. We particularly enjoyed the adobo chicken, blackberry mojito and the conch fritters, although I can’t speak for the rest of the guests and what they tried—other meals looked equally delicious. Wish we were sticking around Placencia longer and could return for...
