I had high hopes with all the good reviews but no go. I think the reviews are fake or done by people who haven't eaten indian food before. I love Indian food. I've eaten it on 4 different continent in several different cities and countries. This place is not worth 4.8 stars. Not by a long shot. Food is made from scratch so it does take a while. We understand that part of our experience, but everything else was a little bizzare. They did not bring us our drinks till the food was ready. We had to leave the restaurant and buy other drinks while we waited. The place is very small with no ventilation or air conditioning so it was stifiling to be in there. When the food finally arrived, they brought us food we hadn't ordered. The waiter/cook admitted that he knew that one of the plates he brought us is not what we ordered but offered no explanation for why we didn't get the right food nor did he offer to make the plate we ordered. What he brought us was not good, so aside from a bite (we were willing to try at least) the plate went untouched. All the meat in our curries still had a lot of bones. So annoying to bite into and pull out broken chicken bones from my mouth full of food! When the bill came he tried to charge us for the food we didn't order and didn't eat. He also included a service charge which was not expressed in advance by him nor was it stated in the menu. In the end, the bill for 3 plates of curry, samosas, naan, a lemonade, and 2 mango juices was over $100 USD. Definately...
Read moreI had really high expectations based on reviews. No option for spice level when ordering. I appreciate made to order but maybe mentioning it on the menu with wait times would be beneficial to prevent a shock of being told it'll be a 45 minute wait. They didn't bring drinks until after our food. Basically cash only operation that does accept credit card but expects the customer to pay 5% extra for the convenience. Saying, "everyone in Belize does this, everyone in US does it too." No they don't. It's the cost of doing business and passing it on to the customer is cheap. Fine if you do it but no need to say it is common practice. Price is high, even for Belize. No chutneys available for enhancing the food. The atmosphere is fine for a mom and pop place but don't get stuck inside with a crying baby. It's a very small room with 3 tables. Air conditioning was good and the actual flavors of the dishes were nice, although the butter chicken with bones was a little off-putting. I feel like a lot of these reviews were bought or people haven't had good Indian food before. I wouldn't visit again but if you do pay cash and...
Read moreThis is restaurant is very easy to miss as it is located inside a tiny clothing store.
However, despite this the food is fantastic.
There is no indoor dining and they appear to work as take out only.
Due to the small size of their kitchen and small staff you need to call in your order about 3-4 hours in advance. This is a lot but it allows the chef the necessary time to get the fresh ingredients and craft the requested dishes.
The food was well worth the wait.
We ordered the Chana Masala, Alo Paratha ,Samosa, and Roghni naan. The Chana Masala had just the right level of spice and flavor. The Alo Paratha was very flavorful and with a bit of spice. The Samosas were perfectly crunchy with a hearty filling. The Roghi naan is distinct from the most common type of naan. It is fluffier and is topped with sesame seeds which gave it a distinct nutty flavor which worked very well with the other dishes.
All of the dishes were with raita and some cucumber which was the perfect pairing with the hearty main dishes.
I will be ordering from here again and recommend you...
