7/2/24 Wednesday lunch snack
We three middle aged guys from London were at our southernmost in MesoAmerica on our three week trip.
We had already tried the nearest beach bar for (lunch and drinks) to us a little further north. We wandered asking the beach, mostly clean unless there was a derelict unowned plot where the litter accumulated.
I went ahead whilst they sat on a cleaner part of the beach and found this bar with a couple of American circles at the bar, drinking beers, cocktails and chatting with the barman. I joined them to chat, order a beer and wait for my friends. A stout (at 5 the usual price) was ordered (and paid for on the spot) and it went down well as I chatted to the couples, one from Iowa.
My friends arrived and sat at the table, I ordered three beers and paid for them on the spot again. I continued chatting with the couples and the boss (Denmar). I popped over to my friends to find they had ordered Couple of dishes as a snack, fried Jack and bbq wings (12 & 15 respectively). I returned to chat. Their food arrived and they tucked in, I rejoined them to share a half a jack and a rib. The Jack was very tasty (I've never had one before). The wing so-so. We are pescatarians usually but where the choice is not great (or there veg/fish are too expensive) we eat meat. I returned to chat and finish my beer.
They finished their meal and the plates were cleared. After my beer I chatted with Denmar and his daughter Vivienne was about to do her nursing exams and wanted to practice in England. We discussed the practicalities and she is now a friend on FB for when she comes over as part of a recruitment drive by the hospitals.
I joined my friends and they said they had paid. We left the beach to get back to Tania's.
On getting there I asked my friends for the bill, which he gave me, which included the three beers! Oooops!
There must have been dinner breakdown in communication.
By the time it was worked out it was too far to return to sort with them directly.
So next time we are here I hope to get those three beers back!
The family run bar has not got any dogs thankfully unlike the one nearest us which leaves their mess on the beach in front and on the path from the street. There is a whole family of dogs obviously bred for selling and very precious to the owners of...
Read moreThis beautiful spot is on my new favorites list. Right on the beach, this nice spot offers a great breeze, absolutely terrific food and cocktails, terrific service and a nice relaxing atmosphere.
We have tried everything on the menu and I have to say that every single dish is made with fresh local ingredients but the stuffed jacks are the best I have ever had. prices are low and quality and serving sizes are large. What a great deal.
Service is very good with the staff so friendly and attentive. Cocktails come out quick and are made with love. One of my favorite things is that they have some chill music set low so you can enjoy a nice conversation while enjoying your meal.
If you give them a chance, this family run place will be on your favorite list as well so go...
Read moreI came here for dinner and was quickly greeted by the owner, Lisa. She is extremely kind and welcoming. On her recommendation, I had the stuffed fry jacks. Wow! They were absolutely delicious, as was the shrimp ceviche. This is a great place serving local food at a reasonable price. It’s located right on the beach, so there is a nice, cool breeze. The restaurant is extremely clean, including the restrooms. Thank you Lisa for a...
