Our stay with Will & Leslie was our first stop during our 17 day Belize trip. We had no idea what to expect after so much research online planning this trip. Being Airbnb hosts ourselves, sometimes we are nervous when we travel of what we will find. We were so blessed to stay here! Now we wish we would have stayed more than 2 nights! Cannot wait to come back here and stay longer!|It was so refreshing to have such kind and hospitable hosts, willing to answer all the thousand questions we had before and during our trip! We sincerely appreciated their honesty on their website about chickens, dogs, & village life! This is not an all-inclusive resort with a gate and pool…an American lodging place planted in the Caribbean. We actually felt like we were in Belize! |As recommended, we hired Angel to drive us from the airport to the Inn as we were arriving in the evening. The transfer was so smooth. Then we were pleasantly greeted by Will & Leslie who showed us our cabana as well as recommending a special Garifuna drumming event just a couple doors down at the oldest bar in Hopkins. |It was like a dream to be just steps from the ocean, staying in the Anniversary cabana. As we learned through all 17 days all over Belize, the locals (including animals) get up early! 530-6am!|The continental breakfast was scrumptious both mornings with 2 kinds of fresh bread as well as an assortment of fresh fruit along with either juice or a smoothie.|The water was calm one morning and we mentioned we would wait until later during the heat to swim. Will was so gracious to let us know when the heat comes, the waves will too! Sure enough it was true and we were so grateful we got in the water mid morning. |They have paddle boards to use and their landscaper prepared a fresh coconut for each of us! |We walked everywhere and enjoyed delicious food as well as homemade ice cream (from the market shop that Will & Leslie own)! |The cabana was very clean, the bed was definitely comfortable (definitely top rating for our entire stay), and the mini fridge was handy for leftovers and snacks. |We felt extremely safe the entire time and were grateful we weren’t further north with all of the vacation rentals jammed together. We shared pics immediately with friends and family, and our family back at home loved watching the livestream on their...
Read moreWe stayed for a week in the Honeymoon Cabana at Hopkins Inn over Thanksgiving and had such a lovely time. The natural beauty is breathtaking. Looking out from the porch, I felt like we had somehow stumbled into the pattern of a Hawaiian shirt. The room was even prettier than it looked on the website and the sea breezes kept it at a comfortable temperature the whole time we were there. The Honeymoon and Anniversary cabanas have completely unobstructed views of the Caribbean.
Leslie and Will couldn't have been more friendly and considerate, taking time to chat and show us around. They had great recommendations for activities and restaurants. Culturally, Hopkins was a really interesting place to visit and felt safe to explore even at night. We had many delicious meals, including mixed drinks, and somehow managed to lose weight because the food is so healthy and fresh. We were very glad we chose to stay in the middle of the town rather than in one of the resorts where we would have been more isolated.
Just a couple of tips: 1. There's a noisy bar next door that sometimes has karaoke or other music into the wee hours so be ready to use the provided ear plugs for sleeping. The Honeymoon Cabana was closest to the noise but I'd still pick that one because the location and layout are extra beautiful and the shower is amazing. 2. Don't miss the chance to try the on-sight spa. Maybe it was the real wave sounds and sea breezes wafting into the room but I had one of the most relaxing massages of my life. 3. When planning your trip, don't hesitate to contact Leslie for help with logistics. She's super responsive by email and shares up-to-date information on transportation and...
Read moreWe were exhausted, we needed to rest snd we needed a clean and cozy place to lie our heads and relax. I also wanted sand, sea and coconut trees; he wanted a charming village to explore. |The Hopkins Inn offered all that and more! |We visited in January / February 2020 where we lucked out when the super cozy honeymoon cabana was available. What a delightful find! We went right back there in July 2021, choosing Hopkins as our seaside, centrally located stop because of the Inn. We scheduled to stay a while the last time in the seafront cabana (but all of them are fabulous) |The owners are so kind, laidback, and fun, but also knowledgeable, caring and accommodating. |And did I mention the wonderful coffee, and assorted fresh fruits and breads served every morning? Or the fresh juice served in the coconut? Or the purified water available 24/7?? |Yes, there are bigger and flashier places to stay in Hopkins, but do you really want a generic experience when you can have 5 star authenticity and comfort? |We have travelled all areas of the mainland the bigger Cayes; you will not find a better place to stay in a better village in a better location - and this compared to Placencia, Caye Caulker and Ambergris Caye/San Pedro. |I cannot say enough good things about Hopkins Inn - or...
