Upon entering this establishment, my hopes were high, but they were quickly dashed by a culinary experience that could only be described as a series of unfortunate events on a plate. The ambiance, reminiscent of a hospital waiting room, set the tone for the impending disappointment.
The menu promised a gastronomic journey, but what arrived at our table can only be likened to a tragic detour. The appetizer, a so-called "gourmet" salad, was a mound of wilted greens drowning in a dressing that seemed to have lost its way between the kitchen and our table. It left an impression that even a rabbit would refuse.
For the main course, I opted for the chef's recommended dish, a seemingly exotic fusion creation that turned out to be a discordant symphony of flavors. The overcooked protein resembled a rubber tire, and the side dish tasted as if it had been seasoned with apathy rather than any discernible spices.
The service, a slow-motion ballet of disinterest, added insult to the injury of the lackluster cuisine. Our server appeared to be auditioning for the role of a somber statue, unmoved by our attempts to salvage the evening.
As the grand finale, the dessert presented itself as the only beacon of hope, but alas, it was a mirage. The chicken chill , touted as a decadent masterpiece, was a mere shadow of its promised richness. It left me questioning the sincerity of the chef's commitment to the culinary arts.
In summary, if you have a penchant for disappointment and a desire to redefine your understanding of subpar dining, this restaurant is a must-avoid. It's a symphony of mediocrity conducted by a chef who seems to have lost their taste buds long before their...
Read moreAfter landing in Bhutan, this was the first place that Nidup, our guide took us for lunch. The two12year olds are not too fussy about food: We need a clean restaurant, a very clean restroom, and good foodcat a reasonable cost. The ladies at Shambhala took good care of us - of course with Nidup around, we couldnt go wrong on the choice of food. We had rice, noodles, some chicken and everything tasted good. The only drawback was that the portions were far too little - leaving us wanting more.
On the second day as well, we ended up at Shambhala since some of the other restaurants that we entered didnt match up to our expectations - especially where restrooms are concerned. Traveling with a 4 year old, a clean restroom was an absolute necessity for us and hence we ended up at Shambhala again.
The ambience of the restuarant is great and it is located in the center of the city. Overall, good food, great ambience,...

The dishes lacked flavor and freshness, and it was evident that little attention was given to preparation. The pork dish, in particular, was poorly cleaned, which made it inedible and extremely unappetizing. This was very concerning, as it showed a lack of basic hygiene and care in the kitchen.
The overall dining experience was far from enjoyable. Given the issues with food quality, we cannot recommend this place. There’s significant room for improvement, especially when it comes to hygiene and ensuring that dishes meet basic standards of...
