Normally I don't write reviews, but in this case I want to make an exception. It's rarely the case that you travel halfway around the world and then feel so welcome and so comfortable right from the start.

The hotel itself is very modern and decidedly beautiful, combining the vernacular architectural style with the requirements of a modern hotel. Everything is clean and appealing, you can feel comfortable all around.

The location is good - it is very quiet, but everything from the city center to a number of sights is within easy walking distance. Stores for daily needs can be found in the immediate vicinity, also some cozy cafes and restaurants. The latter, however, you do not really need, because the hotel has a cozy and very well-run restaurant, where you can eat excellent.

I would especially like to emphasize the friendliness of the entire hotel staff and the management. In a really touching and special way, everyone did their best to make the stay as nice as possible - and it really was.

So: I can only recommend this hotel and its wonderful team to everyone. Bhutan is a fantastically beautiful country and with this hotel as a base you can fully enjoy it. Thank you Thimphu Deluxe, I will be happy...

Hi I have put a 1 star rating because everything was perfectly well till the checkout where the card machine was not accepting my card (whereas everywhere else in Thimphu my card was perfectly working) then I had to go with one person of the hotel to the ATM (after a day of hiking I was not too happy about that) and withdraw the money which cost me a bomb in charges. The hotel accept to include it in their invoice (because it would have the same charges as if I would have paid by card, 3.5%) and told me that the invoice will be ready at the departure. Then at the time of departure it was the wrong invoice, the staff assured me that the correct one will be sent to me on email. After waiting and contacting them through booking.com (because it was booked through the website) the answer which I got was that I didn't came to the hotel for which they cancelled my booking and they can not give me any invoice. Since I was there professionally, I was lucky enough to take picture of the wrong invoice so that I was able to claim it but I lost the extra charges which made me bitter! This is not at all the type of customer service expected for that type of hotel! I would never go...
