Kazamat has a great location and an attractive atmosphere, but the service was shockingly indifferent. It felt like the staff simply didn’t care whether we were there or not. From the moment we arrived, it was clear that no one cared we were there. One waiter casually handed us off to another, saying something like “seat them,” but that person couldn’t care less. We ended up wandering around ourselves, looking for a table — while most of tables had a "RESERVED" sign on it. No one explained anything. Waiters walked past us, avoiding eye contact like we were invisible. Eventually, I managed to catch one’s attention and asked where we could sit. He shrugged and said, “Sit wherever you want.” Then why are all the tables marked as reserved?))) We sat down and waited. No one came. When I finally flagged someone down, he brought the menu. We chose dishes and waited again for someone to take our order — but, once again, it was like we didn’t exist. After calling another waiter over, he told us the dish we wanted was unavailable. That’s fine. The worst part? Right in the middle of placing our order — while I briefly turned to show him which wine I wanted — he just walked away without a word. No explanation, no excuse , no “I’ll be right back,” nothing. He just left us sitting there, confused. That was the final straw. We got up, canceled everything, and left. There are much better places in Banja Luka where you’ll be treated like a guest — not like an...
Read moreHorrible service! After dinner at another restaurant on a quiet Monday evening, I walked around the fortress and decided to go to Kazamat for one last beer in this town. I asked a waiter upon entering if I could sit at the terrace, as several diners were smoking indoor. The waiter said there was no service outside. I said that would be fine. I just wanted a beer and I could take it out myself. He wasn’t happy but still gave me a large beer and I went out to the terrace. 2 other waiters came to yell at me to go inside. The seats were a little wet but it wasn’t raining at all. I wasn’t allowed to sit indoor at the empty tables next to the glass windows/door either, as it was supposedly a dining area and I had only ordered a beer. I was holding the beer in the restaurant asking where I was actually allowed to sit. The waiters kept YELLING and shooing me “inside, inside”, while I moved from one spot to the next. They couldn’t even bother to show me to a table where I should sit. Where exactly was the correct “inside”?! Very rude and humiliating. When I was paying for the beer, I could see on the screen that the first waiter had put the tab on a table at the terrace. It must have been awful for the other diners as well to witness such bad service.
I had wonderful service in all other restaurants and shops I went to during my vacation in Banja Luka. Kazamat just ruined the whole experience for me. It’s...
Read moreI recently dined at this restaurant with my family and was immediately impressed by its location. Tucked away within a castle wall, the entrance feels like a hidden gem, setting a fantastic tone for the evening. The interior is full of medieval character and flair, creating a truly beautiful and immersive dining environment. The opportunity to dine directly alongside the castle wall was a memorable and unique experience. Unfortunately, the experience was hindered by the food and service. The quality of the food was average and not particularly noteworthy. More significantly, the service was quite poor. It was difficult to get the server's attention, and our orders were forgotten, including a simple request for a beverage that I had to make three times. While the food and service were disappointing, the establishment's atmosphere and location are its greatest strengths. For this reason, I highly recommend visiting for the unique setting and ambiance, but I would suggest enjoying a drink rather than...
