Our group went to the Dusty Donkey twice while I was in Maun. Both times the food was absolutely delicious. The staff are extremely welcoming and ensure you have a positive experience whether it be dine in or take out. The cafe itself, very clean and cozy vibes all around. Highly recommend this place if you are waiting for a flight or visiting Maun. I ordered the Crushed Avocado toast both times then a Oat Hazelnut Latte & ginger apple tea. Thank you to all the staff that work there, I now have a favorite cafe abroad. 💖

Edit at bottom. A little more expensive than the other places. Need to give free water by default like the duck. I don't like eating off wooden planks especially when my food is mobile. Ends up on the table. Loss of a star for planks and water. EDIT back again and asked for a plate as suggested. Great Kudu Burger today. Here for 17 days again. Plan on doing every restaurant a couple of times. Got to put something on the food blog. overlandbirds_epicurious on Instagram.

I have to say that this is the best find in town. Whether you're looking for great coffee, or absolutely divine homemade treats, or a corner to catch up on emails over fast wifi and a delicious breakfast, or a spot to catch up with friends over a drink, this is the spot! The owner is extremely welcoming and kind, and her staff are all professional and friendly. Do not miss an opportunity to spend time here, and I'm sure you'll be back again.

Not great food. Poor service. Upped the price on a book, it was marked with price but they charged more. Gouging is all too common here.

I am responding to the owners comment about the pricing on the book. If you put a price tag on an item, then that is the price that should be charged. If this was in error then you should bear the cost. Furthermore, if you price tagged the item some time ago, it follows that you priced it according to the cost of the item to you at the time if there has been an increase in price since then you cannot charge the new price for old stock purchased at less. As far as gouging is concerned, I found this common in Botswana - nothing is complimentary, everybody wants a piece of you. I made this reference due to the fact that you charged a much higher price for the item, rather than doing was was right, that is charging the price it was marked. That said I loved...

I frequent the dusty donkey on an annual basis & enjoy the ambiance, food & friendly staff BUT I was absolutely disgusted when I used the toilet: no key or bolt to lock the door, the strike plate on the door broken off so door hardly stays shut! If I recall this was the position a year ago ( so it did not happen yesterday!) ALSO no water in the basin tap ! So assume all basins have no water … so how do the kitchen staff wash their hands before cooking the meals ?? 🤔 hmmm 🤔?? Ahhh, but there was sanitiser ….. but it was empty!!

Sorry Dusty Management, “ this is Africa “ excuse doesn’t cut the mustard. Clean up your act.

Won’t be back at Dusty Donkey next year as I don’t want...

What a disappointment!

We arrived at 2:00 PM on a Sunday, excited to try this new place. The waitress seated us and handed us menus, and ordered our drinks which got our hopes up — but just a few minutes later, she returned to say the kitchen was closing and they wouldn’t be serving food anymore.

Why seat customers and give them menus if you’re not planning to serve them? It’s incredibly frustrating, especially when your website says you're open until 3:00 PM. It doesn’t take an hour to prepare a wrap and a salad!

If you’re looking for a place that actually values its customers and communicates honestly, I’d recommend going elsewhere. We definitely won’t...
