Stumbling upon this Mexican restaurant in Isla Grande was an absolute game-changer during our visit to Rio de Janeiro. Being of Mexican descent, I’ve found it difficult to fully adjust to the Brazilian cuisine. But this place brought me a taste of home, and I couldn’t be more grateful.
The food was incredibly flavorful—each dish packed with authentic, fresh ingredients like salsa and avocado that were simply divine. Every bite transported me back to Mexico, with flavors that were vibrant, bold, and expertly crafted. It was like having a little piece of home right there on the island.
The atmosphere was equally delightful. The mix of Mexican and Latin music set the perfect mood, making the experience feel warm and welcoming. A huge shoutout to the owner, who not only made us feel right at home but also shared his deep passion for authentic Mexican cuisine. His personable and genuine nature made the visit unforgettable. Knowing our love for great Mexican food, he even provided fantastic recommendations for our time in Rio, empathizing with our tastes and ensuring we’d have an amazing culinary experience throughout our trip.
Wishing this restaurant all the success in the world. Thank you for bringing such an incredible experience to Isla Grande and for making our visit so special. We can’t...
Read moreWe booked a table for 7 people and the restaurant very kindly allowed us to squeeze a couple more in on the night which was appreciated. A long wait for food but it's a small, family run place with great cocktails whilst you wait so we were more than happy to wait. However, they only had two items on the menu - Quesadillas & Burritos so I ordered chicken Quesadillas... They said they would make the pork ones first and bring them out as they made them, but after an hour and a half, they brought a burrito out for me and said "we ran out of cheese so made you a burrito instead" - I wasn't asked or told about this and it was just placed in front of me...
I returned it and they did take it off the bill as well as a drink but after waiting for two hours just to be told they had no cheese I was a pretty disappointed?? One of the main ingredients for their only two menu items and there's a supermarket at the end of the ext street that even I could have gone to if it meant...
Read moreLet me first start by saying that I've always been a huge fan of Mexican food. I've tried quite a lot of Mexican restaurant in my life (including numerous in Mexico and the U.S) and was even lucky enough to go to the Pujol in Mexico, commonly viewed as the best Mexican restaurant in the world. With those informations in mind, please allow me to praise this restaurant.
I was delighted by this place and we even went twice in two days. I'm not afraid to rate it among the top Mexican restaurant I've ever been. Food is delicious and the owners are very welcoming.
In my opinion, the short list of dishes is a sign of quality. Less is more, and as a cook myself, I know that amazing taste in simplicity is way harder than it seems. I never write reviews, but this restaurant absolutely deserved an exception. I highly recommend this place, and wish everyone involved in those delicious meals...
