Don't let the name fool you, this place is for locals - no English spoken at all at this place. I stumbled in as it was next to my hotel and was desperate for a beer after 4 days on a boat. The staff are surly and disinterested but they'll serve you large beers at cheap prices. It's worth going for the people watching alone - very strange crowd. Gringos Bar. O nome engana. Não tem gringo todo dia. Mas quando tem, é um acontecimento, um desvio momentâneo da regra. Porque quem reina ali mesmo é a clientela local, fiel e calejada, que conhece o ponto e sabe exatamente o que esperar.

Afastado do burburinho do Largo São Sebastião, o Gringos é um boteco alternativo, honesto no preço e no espírito. Um bar de rock que às vezes dá palco pra bandas ao vivo, geralmente daquele rock alternativo que já vem com cheiro de cigarro e suor de garagem. Fui frequentador, já bebi bons goles por ali. Hoje prefiro outros cantos, mas deixo aqui meu respeito à resistência do lugar.

A comida? Um clássico de boteco: barata, absurdamente salgada, gloriosamente oleosa. Como tem que ser. Bar que se preze não serve gastronomia: serve sustância e o sal necessário pra empurrar mais uma dose.

É um ambiente que pulsa vida urbana com autenticidade. Não há pretensão, só entrega. Cada mesa carrega suas histórias, seus ruídos, seus amores esquecidos. Talvez não seja o melhor bar de Manaus, mas é um dos mais verdadeiros. E isso já diz...

The place is okay to drink, but the toilets are awful... There is literally no door for the man's bathroom and you cannot even go toilett without someone watching you. The sink is literally on the opposite of the toilett.... Meu deus...

Also the staff doesn't really come to you for the others. You have to go to them which is not really good.
