Sakae's — Restaurant in Região Geográfica Imediata de Porto Alegre

This was, without a doubt, the worst bowl of ramen I have ever eaten. It was also by far the worst food I've eaten (period) in Porto Alegre and was awaaaay overpriced. In addition, I got tricked into "accepting" a small appetizer, which I though the waitress was offering for free to make up for the unreasonably long waiting time. No, it was not free. With that extra surprise charge, the total was R$50,00, which was a total waste, as I couldn't bring myself to eat more than a few bites of this utterly un-eatable meal. (On a normal day, that would by me two buffet lunches!)

Aside from the food, I found the ambiance rather dull and uninviting--really sort of depressing, and found nothing otherwise that was desirable about this restaurant. I cannot fathom how or why this restaurant has received so many good reviews...

I generally like this restaurant. It is probably the most Japanese of the Japanese restaurants in town. The food is simple but the menu is very rich, and one can have a taste of many different Japanese food styles. Unfortunately they fall short on the service. The waiting time is very long and there is no synchronization when bringing the dishes out. The appetizers do not necessarily come first and the main dishes come one by one and very far apart, which makes it tough if you are with a group pf people. I suspect that the problem lies on the quality of management in the kitchen and a general lack of training. Yet, if you are not in a hurry and don’t mind the wait it is a good choice of Japanese food...

O Sakae's é um restaurante tradicional da cidade e com uma boa reputação, então quando fui recentemente conhecer o local, cheguei com expectativas bem altas. Infelizmente a experiência não correspondeu ao que eu esperava. Com a exceção de uma moça que estava atendendo, os garçons estavam muito atrapalhados e não tinham cordialidade nenhuma ao atender a mesa. O sukiyaki demorou bastante pra chegar a mesa, o que poderia ter sido avisado. Quanto ao prato em si, se colocam um fogareiro na mesa, minha expectativa é que fique a critério do cliente ir adicionando aos poucos os ingredientes na panela e controlando o cozimento. Porém não é o que acontece, quem traz o prato na mesa fica longos minutos ali até adicionar o conteúdo todo, o que tira muito da graça da experiência e ainda faz com que alguns dos alimentos não fiquem com a textura a gosto do cliente. Boa parte da carne já estava dura e passada quando comemos, e os vegetais murchos. Não sei se a proposta do restaurante é servir assim mesmo ou se o prato foi servido dessa forma porque não haveria espaço na mesa para deixar o fogareiro, o caldo e a bandeja com os ingredientes. A mesa para casal é minúscula, simplesmente não há espaço para comer um sukiyaki. É preciso repensar o ambiente para que o tamanho da mesa comporte as opções que são oferecidas no cardápio. Além disso, a proporção dos ingredientes não estava agradável. Havia um imenso excesso de agrião, em contrapartida eu e meu marido tivemos que dividir 1 único cogumelo que foi servido. O mix de ingredientes poderia ser melhor equilibrado. Complementando, as duas cervejas que pedimos não estavam geladas. O único ponto positivo da noite foi uma porção de uramaki, que estava de fato bem boa. O Sakae's tem um cardápio muito bom e diferenciado, tem um grande potencial. É uma pena, mas não achei o ambiente acolhedor, atendimento e comida também não agradaram. Torço para que melhorem os pontos fracos e para talvez no futuro ter outra...
