Well, the restaurant is called Egeu. It features white and blue coloured logo and decoration. It resembles Santorini architecture style. But it isn't a Greek restaurant. So I was indeed frustrated when I got there first of all. Ok, let's check the menu. It isn't very Mediterranean either. It's rather international. I was there for dinner with my boyfriend and we both ordered risotto. His seafood risotto was really good. My lobster risotto was alright. Both presentations were state of the art. But... so far I know risottos, it is highly recommended that it is made with either arboreal rice or carnaroli rice. I was personally frustrated again: it was long rice. The waiter suggested that we had a Portuguese red wine along with our main course, which was an excellent choice - and they do have an excellent wine menu. So... dessert time. Not many considerable far-fetched options on that so we ordered a chocolate terrine for sharing. It comes with ice cream and mixed-berries jam. Very tasty and well presented again! We both spent 130 reais, which was reasonable. Note on the service: it was superb! The decoration was cool, not that pretentious as I thought. They chose an excellent playlist whilst we were there, that made us feel comfortable. Oh! And the view is stunning (even more on daylight). I was just frustrated for the menu - it could and it should be more elaborated for what they offer - but it was a very...
Read moreHaving recently moved from London to Costa Azul Salvador, we were expecting something similar in choice. But, having been spoilt by what was a varied selection of World Class fine dining restaurants, perhaps maybe we expected too much. Sure local food is good and flavourful, but basic preparation lacks variety and dishes tend to have little creativity. Fortunately our visit to Egeu was seen as the shining beacon in a Salvador foodie fog. Welcome reception and personal service is somewhat lacking, and could do with a bit of a shake up, but we go to restaurants mainly to enjoy food, ambiance etc, and that didn't disappoint. The Menu was varied and unpretentious, each dish was well cooked and equally well presented, accompanied by an extensive wine list. If there were any criticism, it would be that the place lacked any atmosphere or ambience, the staff were attentive, but lacked any attention to detail. Would we return, almost certainly !! but there's lots of other eateries to choose from, and we'll see what Salvador has to offer, so the...
Read moreThis was by far the worst meal I had in Brazil so far. Because the food is not fresh and the cooking is old style. Lets start with the bufala mozzarella which was not fresh but sitting in the fridge for at least a week. It is not gooey when cut but its consistency more like a cream cheese. Second, the salmon was overcooked, salmon is supposed to be pink however it was white on the inside and very dry. This was supposed to be a nice dinner after a long travelling day. The restaurant was recommended by the hotel but alas it tuned out to be a pretty bas experience in a highly rated eatery. One think I give that property is their unobstructed views to the water. If you want to charge a premium you better deliver premium...
