This review is for Tacacá Do Norte Gourmet. Note there are 2 different restaurants 4 doors apart from each other.
They have the best açaí bowls, real açaí and not that sugary stuff you get other places. You have a choice of what kind of açaí to get: Pure without the addition of ingredients With Sugar or Guarana Syrup With Organic Sugar With Coconut Sugar With honey
You have a choice of Brazil nuts, roasted cashews, farinha, and granola. I ordered the açaí with coconut sugar and granola. It was so delicious and refreshing and the granola added a nice texture and crunch to it.
I also ordered a Guaraná Jesus which is a pink tinted soda that is usually only found in São Luís, Brazil. And I added an Unha de Caranguejo (Fried Flaked Crab Meat) it was excellent.
Very chili ambience and the staff was friendly and accommodating even if they didn’t speak English they had menus in both English and Portuguese and were helpful regardless of the language barrier.
Probably the thing that I want to come back and try is #54 Açaí w/ Fried Puppy (Açaí c/ Filhote Frito). At least according to the English translation menu.
They are known for their tacacá soup as well and unfortunately I didn’t get to try it, I would recommend a visit here to try real northern Brazilian cuisine.
So just be aware that there are 2 restaurants, one is a casual take out counter place and the other (Gourmet) is a sit...
Read moreIt was my first time to try food from Pará, northern Brazilian cuisine. I absolutely loved the Tacacá and the açaí with shrimp. For drinks, I tried the suco de graviola and suco de muruçi. Both were delicious. For dessert, I tried the sorvete de bacuri and sorvete de castanha do Pará com cupuaçu. So so so good. Highly recommended.
I also came here with friends from Pará, and they approve of the food. Authentic and delicious.
Service wise, staff were friendly. I don’t know if they speak any English as I was with Portuguese speakers in my group. The menu was all in Portuguese. The restaurant is small. Come early or be prepared to wait in line. The restaurant was also hot; the air conditioning was insuffient for the size of the room and the number of people inside. The restaurant also had no wifi, and awful data network access, which could limit your ability to pay using your desired method, or use google translate, or from calling Uber without having to go outside down the...
Read moreGoogle Maps is mixing up two different restaurants into one entry. Tacacá do Norte is a simple and delicious pub-like space with tight counter space sitting. You can eat the traditional tacacá, “casquinha de carangueijo” (sautéed crabmeat topped toasted manioc meal), and “unha de carangueijo” (fried crabmeat cakes), or enjoy a fantastic bowl of açaí with tapioca.
The second space is Tacacá do Norte Gourmet, a sit down restaurant with a full fledged Amazonian menu. The cooking is as good as it gets, home cooking style food. Their offerings, such as the roast duck in tucupi sauce, make me think of my grandmother’s cooking.
Both places are the standard reference for northern Brazilian cooking (from the states of Pará and...
