Went to Cuco 2 times during this trip with my girlfriend, would have been down to visit more regularly if I stayed closer.
Charming restaurant with friendly staff, food was one of the best ones I had in Brazil. Considering the price tag, i personally find it to be the best bang for the buck in Salvador for me.
Below was the first review I wrote right after the first visit.
What a pleasant surprise! I did not have much expectations for this establishment, but the codorna recheado à moda do chef (stuffed quail) was truly one of my most memorable dishes in Brazil so far.
The rice showed the Arabic influence to Bahian food, with the choice of spices and raisin. The quail was wrapped in bacon and came with reduced jabuticaba sauce, which added a nice layer of sweetness and acidity, complemented the quail meat elegantly. My only critique is with the stuffing, which could use a bit more flavour. However, combined with the sauce, it harmonized without taking away from the rest...
Read moreThis is the only place in Bahia where we had food impoisoning and we chose it because of the high rating on Google as we wanted to have a nice late lunch for our last day in Salvador. I ate the fish of the day and my wife pasta with shrimps. During our flight to Rio we both felt very sick and my wife was vomiting at the end. We paid 45 EU, not a cheap meal in a stand bar,, where the hygiene can be questionable but still we got this horrible experience. We called the bistro after going out of the plane. We wanted to speak with the manager, instead the only person who managed to talk to us in English was the waiter, only repeating their food is fresh.. A NO GO for me, please avoid this establishment if you do not wish to spoil your vacation. As the bistro answer to a negative similar review is to question if the person was at all in their restaurant I am adding a photo of what I paid today with my card and the phone call I did just after getting out from...
Read moreUnfortunately, I have to rate this place negatively due to poor overall experience. To begin, as tourists, restaurants are often more expensive in highly touristic areas, which we can expect and accept. We came here for lunch and had great food, so we decided to come back the next evening. However, as the portions were very large and we had an important quantity of food remaining, we asked for a takeout. The waiter indicated that a 10R fee would be added, to which we refused as we had already paid for our plates. This is truly unfortunate that a restaurant would take advantage of the situation, especially after us spending a few hundred R, it has left us with a very bad impression of the place when they act like thieves. I would recommend other small restaurants one back street away from the centre, where the food is fantastic...
