We were in Bulgaria for a month, and this was among the top three restaurants we visited the entire time, so good that we returned a second time. We got a table at the scenic side of the patio, with glorious views of this town that hugs the mountains of the valley. We thoroughly enjoyed everything we were served -- we got beer and wine, a Greek salad, and a delicious calzone with chicken, prosciutto, vegetables, and cheese. For dessert, we ordered honey cake with sesame and walnuts and Death by Chocolate, served warm with a liquid center. The food was perfectly prepared in every way.

The views of the city, the bend in the river, two graceful bridges, and the surrounding forested hills and mountains were spectacular.

The next day we returned for lunch, and since there were no table on the back balcony, we sat on the covered area by the street and enjoyed watching people go by. We had beer and wine again, then ordered a Bulgarian salad, a yummy mixture of cheese and yogurt with walnuts, tomatoes, cucumbers, and peppers. We accompanied that with warm pita bread with rock salt. We tried two different desserts this time, and both were amazing: an Old Village Style French cake with homemade custard and jam, and Biscuit Cake, with crumbs rolled into cream and chocolate. WOW.

Service both times was excellent and the prices were more than fair. I recommend Shtastliveca highly!
