Domrei Bar & Cigar Lounge — Restaurant in Khaet Preah Sihanouk

I recently visited Domrei Bar & Cigar Lounge during a trip to Sihanoukville, eager for some downtime at what was advertised as an indoor cigar lounge. However, upon arrival, I discovered the lounge is not a standalone venue as shown on Google Maps but is located on the second floor of the Novotel Hotel. I’ve since corrected this on Google Maps, but this oversight from management is worth noting, especially for a hotel chain like Novotel under the Accor brand. Clear and accurate information is key to a smooth guest experience, so I would suggest they address this.

The venue itself is well-designed, offering a cozy ambiance. A small cigar selection is available, featuring cigars from Habanos, and I appreciated that there was no cutting fee, as I had brought my own cigar. I enjoyed an Aging Room Core Habano Mezzo by Rafael Nodal—a truly excellent cigar with medium-bodied notes of floral, nutty flavors, cedar, earth, and a touch of sweet spice. It lived up to the reputation of Nodal’s Aging Room brand, and the experience was further enhanced knowing it was supplied by Sticks ‘n’ Smokes in Phnom Penh.

For beverages, I decided to try the Kompot Pepper Mojito twice. The first time, I was too absorbed in the cigar to notice the pepper flavor. The second time, despite paying closer attention, the Kompot Pepper was still undetectable. It seems like the drink may need some fine-tuning, perhaps a review of quality control is in order. That said, my primary focus was the cigar, so while the cocktail didn’t quite hit the mark, it wasn’t a major disappointment.

One area where the lounge fell short was comfort. Although the décor was stylish, the seating was quite hard and uncomfortable, which detracted from the overall enjoyment, especially when sitting for extended periods. This is something that could be improved to enhance the experience for guests who come to relax.

Overall, while there are a few areas that could be improved—particularly the seating and beverage consistency—Domrei Bar & Cigar Lounge is one of the few places in Sihanoukville where you can enjoy a quality cigar.
