Khins Shack is set on the Sihanoukvill seafront of serendipity beach. Unless you are already familiar with khins shack you could find yourself walking passed a few times to locate it. Although there are signs posted from the road. From the beach it seams that the best way to find it amongst the camoflage of restaurants and bars of the same look, is to find the other European faces or barang already satisfied from ordering what they believe to be good khimar food. Upon my experience at Khins Shack, they are living off of a reputation of people being wowed by some fresh scallops cooking over an oil drum BBQ in their shells. Not a difficult task by any means! The saving grace of the dish is the sour pepper sauce that is placed on the side. The reason I wanted to try Khins was because of the reviews from others I had read on the internet. Although the price is right for food and drinks, they need to up their quallity if the want to stay in the game amongst the increased competition of quality food outlets in Sihanoukvill.
Walking along the rest of the beach you will find many other restaurants and bars frequented by Cambodians having a great time eating and drinking the Cambodian way.
I suggest that when you go to other countries to experience the culture, be brave enough to get out of your comfort zone and hang out with the country folk! If the communication is difficult then a point at others enjoying their food will be a promise to...
Read moreLovely location, nice atmosphere right on the beach, staff seemed quite stressed though one of the guys was very attentive and polite. Food was okay, really big portion of fried rice but sadly not rating any higher as we weren’t impressed by the prices. We came here after looking online and seeing reasonable prices on the menu, turns out no one updated this as when we got there last night the old prices have been taped over and they now charge more than double what they previously did for some average dishes that you can find elsewhere for better and cheaper. Such a shame as it’s a perfect location and some staff were lovely, just should have been warned we would be paying more than...
Read moreStaff are friendly and usually very attentive. Kumer and western food is good and prices are a good value. They also have decent chairs as opposed to the foldong cloth ones you see everywhere else. The family that runs/ownes this restaurant are wonderful people and are very kind and funny. It is however hit and miss. Sometimes they " forget " my order and or my drink and I know that it can be very busy sometimes. Last week I got up and quietly walked out. I will try...
